For me, it would be The Smiths......I think their music would bear alot more significance if I were born in the 80s, considering all the synth crap.....and the big cult following they had on college radio (not that Im a pretentious hipster.....) ,but their music is amazing anyway, so it doesnt matter.....Whats your choice?

The Grateful Dead.  *Bangs head on desk.*  I was alive when Jerry Garcia was alive, but I never saw them.

Well one of my choices is obvious. However, I would have loved to see Deep Purple back in the 70s.metallica_fan42

One of the first concerts I ever went to was actually a double billing of Blue Oyster Cult and Deep Purple (I had a friend from Scotland that was a huuuuuge Ritchie Blackmore fan). Needless to say it was amazing but I was really into Blue Oyster Cult at the time so it wasn't hard to enjoy.

...and yes Zepman, the 80s were a great time to experience the Smiths as well as a multitude of bands. Although I'm not stuck on listening to 80s music like others in my age bracket, it was still an amazing period of musical discovery for me that I will always treasure.

For me it would actually be to be in France during the whole Ye-ye girls scene in the mid 60s.

The Stooges, MC5, Weather Report, Mahavishnu Orchestra...most of the others are either still together (different lineup) or aren't technically speaking, bands.
