Chris Nolan once said that he could never see the Penguin working in his Batman franchise because he's too far-fetched. But how is Bane any difference?

Unless he doesn't plan to make the character physically as huge as in the comics but asking Tom Hardy to just get as big as he can before they start the shooting which won't do much justice to the character.

Well he can be big and buff, but in a reasonable way. Plus when Bane was first introduced into the comics he was just as smart as Batman too. So perhaps they'll focus on a smarter Bane.

Bane isn't that bad. I think Nolan can pull off a realistic portrayal of him.

Isn't bane a bulked up child genius? I don't see what's so far-fetched. It's a pretty easy translation to real life. Obviously Bane won't be monstrously huge like Clayface, but he'll be buff.

Your probably right. I would like to see a strong super smart villain for Baman to go against.

Not really...Bane is already physically superior to Batman with venom. Once Venom, he almost immediately becomes way stronger. You think that's less far fetched than Batman?

Uh... Penguin doesn't have to be the Penguin from Batman Returns. There's a normal five figured Penguin in the DC universe. If Nolan did his own take on the Joker (who is way more over the top than Penguin), he can do a Penguin.

Well, first, it's a comic book, so of course it's not going to be completely realistic. You do have to suspend your disbelief a bit. But, to defend that, Batman is in prime physical condition. He's already at the limit of human potential, so a lot of the stuff he does IS possible to someone like him.

I remember about 5 years ago, someone told me that no human could run 100 meters in under 9 seconds.

The Bane from comic books has been potrayed as a smart, cunning super-strong villain who was among the few to learn of Batman's true identity and is infamous for breaking Batman's back in the Knightfall series.

What human has ran the 100m dash in under 9 seconds? Usain Bolt has done a 9.58 sec dash....that's the best the world has seen thus far, to my knowledge.

I think it would be really cool. I could picture Bane as re-emergence of Ra's Al-Ghul's vigilante philosophy, justified by the chaos driven by Joker.

Whoops. I thought it was under 9. Still, the world is a much different place when you have ability (strength, speed, intelligence,etc.).

I think he's doable. But no giant muscles. He'll be nothing more than the peak of human, like Bruce. Perhaps they could use Venom, but not as a fluid he has attached to him all the time. Just a steroid of some sort he took that makes him stronger, but not superhuman. An Evil Batman, like Slade.

My first viewing of Bane was in the movie Batman and Robin, which I used to like. :P Then I read about him in the comics, super-smart and super-strong was a lot cooler then total idiot/slave and super-strong.

Even this looks too big for a Nolan film IMO. He should be this:

2

And nothing more. Besides maybe a small IV beneath his sleeves.

What's the big issue with his size anyway? Extra-large should be fine, it's been done in movies before. :P

Bane had a IV bracelet and, when pumped up on Venom, looked nothing like a "batman-level" human being. He's going to have to be mutated somehow when on the drug. It's the only way to get Bane correct...

Talk about under-sizing a character.
