TDK was boring, I'm really surprised so many people liked it. First of all, when batman punched a bad guy in that movie, the camera is so shaky, you can't even see who is winning the fight, you just assume batman is winning because he's batman.motherlovebonelol why exactly was this such a big gripe for you?
I loved the 1989 Batman movie but I disagree. For me it goes
The Dark Knight > Batman(1989) > Batman Returns > Batman Begins >>>>> Batman Forever (Batman & Robin I hated so much that the amount of arrows required to show that is ridiculous)
that is just going on how I personally enjoyed them, nothing more than that

I concur 100% with your assessment. Batman 1989 comes close for me, but TDK blew me away the first time I saw it.
Have you ever danced with the devil in the pale moonlight?Jandurin
Once, but I was really drunk and it might have just been a crazy hobo in red panties. Beer goggles are a *****
The 89 Batman movie is just about the special effects. Its incredibly dated now though. There is very little exposition about Batman at all. Its more about the Joker and some of it is numbingly awful because of how over the top/camp it is. I guess some of the sets still look good but that shouldn't elevate it over the Nolan films because their art designs work for different purposes.
The 1989 Batman is still my favourite film of the series.Bourbons3Hmm...I'll give it third. Not better than the Nolan's...but the best of the rest.
I liked both but if I watch them today, I have to fast forward to much of both movies. They both had their slow moments. When they show the trailers, it's 99 percent batman and when they show the movie, it's 96 percent acting in clothes. Much more action is needed for me.
I love them both, just as I love both Nicholson's and Ledger's unique and distinct (and equally valid) portrayals of the Joker. I give them both 5/5 stars.
I like The Dark Knight best due to the fact that it became an epic crime drama. Heck I like Batman Begins better than the original Batman.

The Joker was the main reason I liked that movie. I also liked Gary Oldman, Michael Caine, and Aaron Eckhart. Morgan Freeman is always excellent as well. The one thing I do not like about these new Batman's is Christian Bale to be honest. I mean he is not terrible at all but I don't like him in the role that much. Michael Keaton is still my favorite movie BatmanBoth were good, but lets be honest, TDK wasn't good because of Christian Bale as Batman, we all know Heath Ledger as The Joker made that movie epic.

I like Michael Keaton and all.. But the guy looked like he was 140lbs, hardly some one that could beat you to death with his bare hands..
I prefer the original. I loved The Dark Knight when it came out, but I don't have a desire to ever watch it again.

True I just liked the way he carried himself as Batman in the movies. Especially the fight scenes in the beginning of Returns with all the freaky circus guys. Christian Bale always just growls. I understand its a voice enchancer or whatever to hide his true voice and identity but I just don't like itUsually a movies age does not make my opinion lean one way or another but when you compare the two the 1989 version has not aged well AT ALL. The acting is so much better in TDK, it looks better; the camera work is amazing as is the score. Plus I love Heaths portrayal of the Joker more just because he was far more sadistic and not so campy like Jacks. Sure I know Jack's Joker was actually "funny" but I do not want to laugh at a villain, I want to be scared…there was nothing scary about his Joker he was a living cartoon. Dont get me wrong I like the 1989 version but if I had to choose which to watch it would be TDK all day everyday.

You've never seen 1989's Batman, have you?
I think this is like comparing apples and oranges.
They both had great Joker performances, butI feel both actors playing Batman played it very differently. Burton and Nolan showed a different kind of world in Gotham. I like them both, but the differences in styization are pretty great. I give Keaton the nod over Bale mostly because the gruff voice Bale uses is annoying and hardly a serious acting choice. We all can make a gruff voice and put on a black suit. Howwe look in it is what makes the different.
Here is my ranking order: Batman>Batman Begins>TDK>Batman Returns>>>>Batman Forever. Batman and Robin is undoubtedly the worst of the series. I'm sure many can agree to that.

I agree. TDK is okay, but it's badly structured and is about 20 minutes too long.aaronmullanBadly structured? WHAT?! D: I agree that the camera shakes a lot during fist fights, but everything else is prime. Tim Burton's Batman was a great film for me when I was a kid, but I watched it last year on DVD and found myself facepalming in embarrassment. :( Jack Nicholson's Joker was too comical.
Jack Nicholson's Joker was more comical than Ledger's, but that's because the Joker of the comic books hadn't yet become the abstract, post-modern, uber-ironic Charles Manson type that he seems to be today. Nicholson's Joker is like a darker, more psychotic Caesar Romero. He's funny, but he's also a vicious, murdering bastard. Ledger's Joker is awesome, but Nicholson's Joker is equally valid (especially when you consider that Tim Burton's movie was the first exposure that mainstream audiences had to a darker, grittier Batman outside of the comic books).
