I thought it was great. Glad to see it coming back.

Just a few things I was wondering about.
1) Beavis and Butthead seemed to be uniquely a product of the 90s. It was quite funny as a portrait of two people who were just plain stupid as hell, but I also think it works as a commentary on the dumbing down of America and as a criticism of a culture which is glued to their screens. Does the New Beavis and Butthead simply copy the old show, or does it do a modernized take on the same concept? 15-20 years from now, does it look like it'll be just as uniquely tied to THIS decade to the same extent as the original show was uniquely a product of the 90s?
2) How do they handle the music video thing? Because those were a BIG part of the old show. But today it's pretty hard to imagine two losers sitting on a couch eating Cheetos and watching MTV music videos together. Do New Beavis and Butthead talk over the internet? Do they watch music videos on Youtube?
3) Is New Beavis and Butthead culturally relevant? Is it making any changes in order to say anything about the world TODAY? Or is it merely just copying the old series greatest hits?
4) I was always very intrigued by the idea of a new Beavis and Butthead series, but I was also sort of skeptical of the show's ability to meet the potential that's just inherent within the concept. Would you say that New Beavis and Butthead DOES succeed on this level? Or is it just a funny and well-written (but ultimately meaningless and irrelevant) revival of a series which is already strongly out-of-date?
Haven't seen it yet--doesn't air for a few more hours here, but seeing the sneak peek in which they rip apart scenes from Jersey Shore and 16 and Pregnant may make this worth seeing again. It couldn't possibly be worse than what they have on now.
On a somewhat related note, it make me even happier that MTV is also bringing back Liquid Television.--at least, to a degree.

First let me say, the show was hilarious, and very well written. It was honestly funnier than the original series in my opinion.
They still sat on the couch in front of the television (perhaps just for the sake of keeping that iconic image), however they commented on relevant things of today (dubstep music videos, LMAO, MGMT music video, reality televsion (teen mom and a show about a man addicted to porn). There was also a plot based on them wanting to become vampires, and then werewolves to score with the ladies; obviously based on twilight.
It certainly doesn't seem like it's stuck in the 90's. It feels updated with the times for sure, and frankly it just works. Although, I don't know if it will feel uniquely tied to this decade as the other show did with the 90's, it may progress to show more of what is relevant today like youtube, facebook, twitter, and the internet in general, and I hope they do.
They must be on the same anti-aging regimen that The Simpsons are on. ;)I have it scheduled for the DVR. I'm definitely interested in seeing them again.
Though... do they age at all? Isn't it time for them to be overweight and balding Motley Crew roadies?

I've known people like Beavis and Butthead. It strikes the reality chord a bit too strong to be relevant only to a particular decade.
So far so good...MTV might actually be worth watching again...love the fun poked at the Jersey Shore....what a bunch of idiots.

Yeah but Beavis and Butthead were always centered around the media entertainment offerings of the day, just due to the fact that they sit on their couch and make idiotic observations. The Simpson's has some cultural relevance, but it's usually masked a bit more. It's a bit more glaring with Beavis and Butthead making Twilight references and poking fun at Snookie and The Situation.
Of course, some of us are overthinking it a bit. I'm just going to enjoy the show now... forget I said anything :P
I was overjoyed to find out that it was coming back. I watched most of tonight's episode and thought it was awesome!
I wrote a blog about the return of Beavis and Butthead :P
I'm yet to watch the episode.
EDIT: Watched it last night, loved it! :-D
You want them to be middle aged men? Not sure the show would have the same feel then.[QUOTE="Dracula68"]If they made them age I would have but seeing the commercial they look exactly the same.Pirate700
Yeah I had that thought too until I realized I was overthinking. I'm glad they remained the same age. At the very least it provides an excuse to keep Mr. Van Driessen firmly rooted in the episodes.
[QUOTE="entropyecho"]
Do they still make fun of music videos?
m0zart
Yes.
Then I have to see the new episodes. Awesome
So far, so good... Last night's episode was pretty hilarious, especially their take on the MGMT video. Can't wait for the next episode to air
I thought it would be them making fun strictly of the MTV reality show lineup (the segment having them mock Jersey Shore was priceless), but it's great that music videos are featured as well.So far, so good... I'll never forget when Andy and Barney went to Mt. Pilot to worship Satan.

Although the funniest part of the MGMT video was attributing a well known Nietzsche quote to Mark Twain.
I'm surprised they allowed Beavis to say "Fire Fire" wasn't there a whole lawsuit and despite having no merit MTV still banned Mike Judge from using the word "Fire"?m25105
I'm just gonna say people have desensitized since then. The 2000's were when the 90's lost its virginity.

He was never banned from using the word "fire", but they did spoof it a lot of the show (like Beavis saying "fryer! fryer!" when working at Burger World).
