Becoming iconic

I was talking to someone a while back about stuff becoming iconic and i said that now a days things tend not to become as iconic as in the past. For example there hasn't been anything to reach Star Wars level or the Beatles or the 1st super mario bros. Sure Avatar made a ton of money but even 10 ten years from now itwon't have anywhere near the following that Star Wars does over 30 years later and i thinkthat can be said for pretty much everything now a days and that's not to saythings were better back then.So why do you guys think this is? or am I wrong?

im pretty sure slipknot and avenged sevenfold are the "beatles" of our time.....man that in the same sentance is degrading

and i guess CoD is the super mario bros gone wrong in these days,and tip another to the degrading sentance......negative icon right here

It's not necessarily an indicator of quality, but todays there is so much out there that's competing for peoples attention. Had the Beatles came out today they would not have had the same kind of impact.

Pokemon series still contiues, but it's lame. Not just saying that because everyone else says that, I honestly think it's lame compared to the older seasons. The video game however, still awesome! Powerpuff girls I still enjoy, but don't go back to watch them. I named my cat Mojo jojo. Well, he's bye bye now.

things don't become that iconic anymore because the era of cult of personality is gone.people tend to be skeptic when it comes to worshipping things because they finally realized that nothing is perfect.
