Meh... shredding with a cheap gimmick... nothing really musically impressive.

And using Smoke On The Water and Crazy Train along with it is not cool either.

I'll take Eric Clapton, Peter Frampton or David Gilmour over him any day of the week.

You make a good point, because David Gilmour is a master at guitar, but what I like about Batio is that, unlike Yngwie, he uses soul in his playing instead of running up and down the neck all the time. He picks his moments, and that's why I like him.

Let me tell you something people..If you are talking about Steve Vai, he is student of joe satriani, if you search well you will find the story. And if you want someone new and good, listen to Joe Stump, he is magnificent and JETAIME is one of my favorites.Checkout also Satriani's albums "Strange beautiful music,Crystal planet and Time machine" you will love it very much.

Yeah, I'm not a big fan of metal. I like some blues, but mostly, I like Alt. rock.

Ick... I hate those guitars... They're just so dumb sounding, and he's arrogant, too. Even more arrogant than Yngwie Malmsteen. Somebody posted some of his videos in the SSN (don't remember who), and they had an interview and a couple of videos of him talking to an audience. What an arrogant, arrogant man.

I can move my fingers fast on a guitar, too. I'm not saying I can move them as fast as MAB, but after I had been playing for about 5 years, you'd be surprised how fast you can move your fingers, too. I've been playing for 11 years, as of last month.

I hate it when these fast guitarists are overlooked when there are these truly innovative guitarists out there making soulful music and these hacks are making money because they can play a lot of notes...

Try looking for more videos on him playing, he doesn't use many fancy techniques in others. Look for "Rainforest", it's a great song.

You need to listen more to his music, man. That's what I like about him, he can play slow one minute and get extremely fast the next.

?  james malone?  innovative?  its not that hard to play random notes really fast.  santiago dobles, that guys knows his technique, and can sweep for sure, but he's just another typical shredder.  i don't see how they innovate you, but hey, if it does, be innovated.

Random notes?  Definitely not.  Almost all of his songs are rooted in diminished thirds, which may sound random, but he writes out most of his music before entering the studio.  I'll admit most of his songs don't sound organized due to heavy distortion.  Listen to A Diamond For Disease if you can find it or have the time.  It better exemplifies what I'm talking about.

Santiago Dobles can actually put an emotional force behind his music, something that I have yet to see from Malmsteen, Batio, Li, Turilli, Llamotainen, etc.  If you're just viewing his instructional videos on youtube, it's a bit misleading.  Try to find his band Aghora out there somewhere, especially their second album.  He's the only virtuoso guitarist I've seen who can incorporate his music in a band that doesn't center around the guitarist.

I prefer the Hendrix soulful style instead of the play as many notes as possible stlye.
