Um... so they Americanized Being Human, and it will premiere on the SyFy Channel.

I ask this: why? :/

The BBC show is only going to be in its third season, and they decide to already make an American version.

Well, this is how TV Networks work. They put on shows. You watch them. You also watch the commercials in between. And they make a lot of money!

I don't understand why they Americanize any TV program why don't they show the origonal I doubt it would confuse an American audience at all.

Americanising inbetweeners is a horrible move in terms of how funy its going to be.

And here I thought this was going to be a philosophical thread. Oh well, I'll contribute: Remember the movie Quarantine? Americanized version of the Spanish film [Rec], which was actually good.

I really enjoy the show Being Human, and am quite leary of the american version coming to sy fy. I mean, I'll have to check it out when it comes, but I have a strong feeling I'll be sticking with just the british version.

I remeber reading that the guy who does Starkiller's voice in the Force Unleashed games is supposed to play the lead vampire roll in the american version. And here are some photos from the american version here.

Being Human is a great show. Not sure how I feel about an American version. I don't really think it's necessary.

Wish I knew what show you were talking about so I could make some educated comment, but in that light can you provide me with a link to the BBC series?

Nothing can go wrong with Americanizing a tv show, just look at:
Life on Mars
Blackadder
Red Dwarf
Coupling
The I.T. Crowd
Men Behaving Badly
Spaced
Teachers
The Thick of it
Wild at Heart

Oh... :P

It's about a vampire, werewolf and a ghost living in the same house trying to uhh... 'be human', but obviously everything goes completely mental. I'll probably give the US version a go but I have little to no expectations of it. The pilot for peep show/ IT Crowd US was diabolical and The Office was just plain bad.

Has there ever been an american adaptation to a UK show that was actually better then the original?

I find that these British to American and vice-versa shows are a bad idea. Like the American Top Gear, it has none of the charm the original does. And Law & Order UK is awful (then again, the original isn't that great either).

The american version of The office was no where near as funny, the only thing it had better was the number of episodes, but it streched on for way too long.
