Seriously. It does. It just hits me at the worst time.

But it can also be very nice to be able to do whatever you want and have your alone time.

How do you people deal with it?

I don't really dwell on it. Maybe that's easier for me because it rarely bothers me. Only every so often when I am single does the fact that I am single bother me...and then I just move on and think about other things.

This. The companionship would be nice but as it stands, I don't make a big fuss over it. It will happen when it happens.

Your going to be married for at least 30-40 years. Why are you rushing? And depending on your age if your below 25 relationships mean nothing anyway. Enjoy it...cause once your in a relationship or married your gonna miss your single life.

Yeah, I'm not too worried about it. I really like my alone time without having to "report" to anyone every day. When it happens it'll happen, there's no rush.

It's not that bad? What exactly is bad about being single? You aren't forced to spend a majority of your time with one person, rather with many. Also it costs a lot less money, and you can focus on other things.

I can relate to that feeling, but I have no intention of seeking a girlfriend because I already have my eye on one. It's better for me to be single than to be in a little fling that only lasts a few weeks. I fell for being a rebound once and it won't happen again.

Like I said, for the most part I'm fine with it. But every now and then it just hits me. And I end up feeling like crap. I guess its mostly because a lot of my close friends are in relationships or talk constantly about who they're with. And I just feel left behind. Or like a third wheel.

But I'm only 20. I guess I shouldn't be rushing. I'm not saying I wish I was married. But sometimes it would be nice to have a companion.

This post is made of win. Otherwise I rarely dwell on my single status and usually find something to occupy my mind with. Sure there are days when the thought becomes bothersome, like a cold, but then it goes away.

It's better to have this feeling of loneliness when you're single rather than when you're in a relationship.

That's usaully what happens when you think about. If you never think about and live your life. It won't bother you as much. And just because your in a relationship does not mean your not alone. Each side has it pros and cons...don't rush neither of them.

That's why being single doesn't bother me. It's a the grass always greener type of situation...You want what other people have just to be able to say that you actually have it. Having a companion would be nice, but there are negatives to having somebody and rushing into a relationship is definitely not something you want to do. Enjoy being single for as long as you can and just wait for the right person to come along:).

Being in a relationship has its issues as well. Being single doesn't blow. Being alone may, but that's why you got to keep some good friends around, even if you are in a relationship.

I am waiting for the right person to come around, I don't really want to jump into a relationship with anyone for the sake of just being in a relationship. I've had my eyes on girls but most of them are already taken or just got out of a relationship.

Ehh, on one hand I am so sick of being single and really want nothing more than to actually experience a real relationship, but on the other I really don't have anyone to chase after (I have a tendency to want what I can't have...) so it is just the way things have to be for now. I am keeping control despite being sio incredibly sick of my reputation as the 22 year old virgin who is never going to get laid...

At the moment it has alloted me time to consistently pick up overtime at work and I am making a killing compared to what I used to make (actually just managed to cash in the biggest check I have ever earned). Video games and a new hobby (playing bass guitar for me) have helped as well.

I do think this cracked article fits this topic well though.:P:

*pats shoulder* Relax man its ok one day you will find a girl. Trust me. Also your not really missing anything. Relationships are great for the first few months but then...it kinda starts to suck. It is also emotionally straining. When you get into one you will see. Enjoy what you have now cause one day. You will miss it...trust me.

How can anyone get a gf these days? Standards are so high. i wonder what it is like to balance multiple girls at once. Is there anyone who actually does that for real? One is difficult enough to get. If you have 1 thing wrong with you then forget it. They wont have any interest.

Its like a time I heard a girl talking about someone she said: I used to think he was really attractive but then I heard him laugh.

Over the past six months or so it has actually been a bit of a blessing that I am single. I've been travelling and whatnot, and if I was dating someone then being away from home so much would probably have torn me up. You're single now, but you wont always be. So enjoy what you can now-- go travelling, learn some extreme sports that a gf would freak out over, and maybe even start playing an mmorpg because you have time.

Younger people are like this yes. Standards are conversely related to age. The older women get, the more realistic they get. I should know. I'm a straight up computer nerd, but women treat me like I am freakin' Brad Pitt anymore. And every year that passes I keep looking like a better and better prospect to women, as they realize that perhaps the average/decent looking, financially stable guy is a better wager than the hot guy that works at Kinkos.

Possibly I suppose. Although I didn't gain a crazy amount of confidence until women started liking me (at least not in that area of my life). So, which comes first, the chicken or the egg?
