Besides a goldfish, what other pets are cheap?

I want a new pet:(

I have had a dog, and I have one now, NO WAY I could handle another one. I had a snake, I caught him in the woods and let him go. I had a rabbit, but it died.

Get a hamster.

Hamsters/Guinea Pigs are like $15.

Hamsters and Guinea Pigs suck. They stink, need to be looked after a lot, ect.

I say you get a Tarantula or a Scorpion. They are cheap, low maintenance, require very little space and kill prey so they are fun to feed. They are also quiet and cool.

I'd say hamsters. I think Guinea pigs need a bit more maintenance. Infinite-Zr0

All the little buggers do is eat and crap and if you don't give them food they will even eat their own crap :o

If you don't clean their cage at least every other day the room will start to smell like urnine. The thing is more expensive then you might think. Before buying a pet you should head down to the local library and take out some books on how to care for it.

You can actually train them to use cat-boxes so you don't have to keep them caged up.

Mine is box trained like the one pic and is super cute. If I werent so lazy her cage would look so much better. I feel so horrible!!! :cry:

If you're looking for a cheap pet, go with a mouse. Dogs and Cats are fine (and you're helping out by getting from a pound like others have said, but if your pound is like the one around here, you have to pay for the spay/neuter, shots, ect. so it's abou $100), but in terms of cheap, I think mice are around $1.50 each. But it gets expensive if you branch out with accessories.

They don't smell but their cages can if you don't clean that **** up 2-3 times a week.

get these, they are the best, cute dont need too much attention, live long and you feed it with seed that are cheap

Mice are really really cheap. A friend of mine bought one on the way to school and got a small bag of food for it, it was cute and easy to take care of :D Cats and dogs are nice but if you want a cheap pet, I don't think you'd want one. Unless you can get a free puppy/kitten and some really cheap food and accessories.

get a cat, they are pretty cheap to get. all u have to do is get a bowl of water, food, a box or something with kitty litter, cat food. they are pretty cheap. it cost like $15 every two months for a new bag of kitty food. iam2green

Cats suck - Boxxy rules.

Probably a hamster, gerbil, or small bird are your best bets. Haven't been to the pet store in awhile though.
