I am in the market to get a 23" LCD to play my games on. I don't have so much $$ to get 1080p and I really don't have the size for anything larger than 23". I am looking at the Samsung 23" that does 720p and is HDTV ready. It's a stylish model. Any opinions? Any suggestions? I want to stay in the 16:9 resolution (not 16:10) so that limits what I can pick from.
You only need a 720p LCD to get the best out of the 360/PS3. Most games released for this system are 720p or a bit less. The very few games that are in fact natively 1080p are too far in between to really card. What do I mean by native 720p v 1080p? If you play a 720p game on a 1080p tv... its going to look the same as on a 720p TV.
Don't let the labels on the back of the games boxes fool you. It's a gimmick. They really only mean: "lol we upscale to higher resolution".
Brand wise, Samsung is the creme de la croup. Sony is also up there along with Sharp. Lower down, but still very good, is Westinghouse -- which I recommend if you are on a budget.
In my opinion, you should go with a mid-grade quality 32". It's much bigger, and you'll pay the same as a top of the line 23". I stood in the story trying to compare the difference and it's SO subtle it's not worth the extra $$$.
