I haven't heard of a single one of those bands/artists.

I am officially boycotting any and all 2010 albums until I get my Obsidian Conspiracy by Nevermore. It was supposed to be released January 2010, then it got pushed to April, and now it's dated to end of May. RAGE!!!

I haven't been buying much new stuff this year as of yet and it seems most of what I've been listening to are people who haven't recorded a full proper CD as of yet like Best Coast, Girls at Dawn & The Sand Witches. I'm not sure about the new Beach House yet as I've been listening to it but it hasn't been instantly clicking as easily as their last album did. I'm just going to keep playing it and see if it's just me not paying enough attention or not.

AEALO by Rotting Christ. Majesty and Decay by Immolation. Everything Remains (As It Never Was) by Eluveitie. 12 Gauge by Kalmah. Belus by Burzum (not the best one from Burzum, but still decent).

And I am eagerly anticipating The Final Frontier by Iron Maiden (hopin it sees a 2010 release) and Nevermore's Obsidian Conspiracy. Maybe Wintersun will get off their ass and finish their album Time...That's high hopes though, Wintersun's first album was awwwwesome.

I'm so far behind on 2010 it's imbecilic. I had 40+ albums lined up to listen to, and I've only gotten to like five. I thought I'd be chugging through these this year, but life thinks otherwise. So far, High on Fire, Ihsahn, and Triptykon have the top albums of 2010. Valborg and 1349 once again are keeping me optimistic until the end of April.

How is Contra compared to their first album? I heard mixed things. I liked their debut but some songs were hit and miss.

Hard to say, really... I don't think there's one album that's more accessible then others.. Me - I got their latest (technically, it's still the "latest"...) - This Godless Endeavor - and I just fell in love with the songs. So I got the older ones. But I think This Godless Endeavor is a good place to start - it's less aggressive and thrashy, and more melodic and progressive compared to their older works. But if you do want the more thrashier side (doubtful, judging by the albums you posted...) go with either their first or second albums (Nevermore and Politics of Ecstasy respectively)

I loved the last JJ album. Is the new one better or different in any way? Congratulations looks interesting. MGMT have potential but their first album was way too hit and miss. It had some good songs but a lot of the time it tried way too hard to be weird and psychedelic when other bands were doing psychedelic pop better already. Is Congratulations any different or is it more of the same? I liked Heligoland, but it got a bit monotonous after a while. I prefer Massive Attack's older albums.

This by default being the only album that I'm looking forward to that has been released so far. I like it but it won't be at the top by the time others release material. I hope Tom goes all out next time. I think he's sticking too close to the previous entries. The guy is overconfident so I'd love to see him get more experimental.

I quite liked volume one of she and him. Most actresses can't sing for crap but Zooey deschanel has a pretty decent voice. I like M.Ward too. Is volume two better than one?

Alkaline trio have a new album:o I wasn't into the new Spoon album much. It was decent but not as good as Kill the moonlight or Gimme Fiction.

As Film-Guy already mentioned, Joanna Newsom's Have One On Me and Los Campesinos' Romance is Boring. Both fantastic albums. But I would also like to add Love is All's new album, Two Thousand and Ten Injuries.

Best indie pop record of the year (so far) in my opinion. And that's coming from a huge Los Campesinos fan!

I agree. "The Flight of Apollo" was really similar to a blink 182 song, so I'm excited for what is in store for their new album.

Here is the first single off the album.

Sjearwater's "The Golden Archipelago" and Electric President's "The Violent Blue" are neck and neck right now, but I've only listened to a dozen albums this year so far. Took 1st quarter of the year to further listen to last year's gems.
