Hey, this topic is about some of the best depressing music you've ever heard, music that makes you want to go to a very cold dark place and never return.

Pig Destroyer - Natasha - This song is almost half an hour long, and usually Pig Destroyer is fast and heavy, but not here. They are slow, forboding, and agonizing, and the music is absolutely beautiful and ethereal.

Swans - Skin Around Skin and Fool - These are the songs you would want to play at your funeral, or not play at your funeral, they are depressing, morbid, dreary, gloomy, and everything else that reminds one of an old cemetary on a cloudy day.

Mad Season - Above - a supergroup which has the singer from Alice in Chains, these songs are depressing as hell, wrenching with soul-writhing emotion and pain, and so sincere and heartfelt, makes the spine chill with the cold agony dripping from the vocals.

the album Disintegration. The Cure as a whole can't fit the bill but that album is the most beautiful depressing album. IMO of course. Don't want to start anything.

Fixed. :D I wouldn't call their music depressing, but the songs Ruska and Farewell sound very emotional.

Thank you for doing that. I think Farewell plays on a radio station that my brother listens to and he drives me into school every morning and I heard that song... in the morning. I don't like depressing music in the morning

Yes but that's because it's annoying trash, not because it's depressing... Although I guess it is a bit depressing just how terrible and generic that band is.

The Cure's Pornography... its the darkest, most nihilistic album I've ever heard... in particular the track One Hundred Years.Best opening line to an album ever:

"It dosn't matter if we all die"

Its a masterpiece that album.

Aww... I don't get any radio stations that play instrumental music. Actually, I don't really get any stations that play most of the music I listen to.

The GazettE: Without a TraceGurenChizuru and Defective Tragedy the first 3 are generally slower and beautiful, Defective Tragedy just reminds me of every time I break down

Dir en Grey: Dead TreeObscure and Ryoujoku no Ame a lot of harder and frustrating stuff

Alice in Chains: Don't Follow and Dirt

Just to name a few. Most of the music I listen to is 'hate the world kill yourself' music.

I'm surprised no one's mentioned Mad World yet, specifically the Gary Jules cover

Beautiful song, but so damn depressing at the same time.

Umm, here's a good depressing song -- it's the main theme from the Black Mesa mod.

The Cure.....I think while Disintegration is slightly better.....Pornography is the more depressing. Though they both fit that category. Along woth others albums.

"So Sick" - NeYo
"Mr Lonely" - Akon
"In the Shadow of The Valley of Death" - Marilyn Manson, probably my favorite depressing song.
