This has been a great year for new directors. Many great directors have made their first films and shown they have talent. Hopefully I will be one soon:P

1. Martin Mcdonagh- In Bruges

Mcdonagh is one of the best playwrights of our time, he also proves that he can direct well with this great dark comedy. Colin Farrell was fantastic in this film.

2. John Hillcoat- The Proposition

Hillcoat may have done other films, but only one was feature length and it is pretty much unavailable everywhere. Well this could be cheating a bit.

3. Sylvain Chomet- triplets of belleville

4. Florian henckel von donnersmarck- Lives of others

5. Jason Reitman- Thank you for smoking

6. Armando Iannucci- In The loop

7. Duncan Jones- Moon

8. Edgar Wright- Shaun of the dead

9. Thomas McCarthy- The station agent

10. Steve McQueen- Hunger

I know it was this year, District 9 was amazing. As was In Bruge, but I think District 9 was a more difficult film to direct.

I agree with these ones. I'm not saying I don't agree with the others, it's just that I haven't seen those movies yet. :P

I really liked Hunger though. The more I think about it, it was just a really great film.

Michael Fassbender was great in it. Such a sad story, I remember my dad telling me about the real guy and the situation after it happened. I wasnt alive for it by he said it was a pretty crazy time in Ireland. You should see The Station agent, it is a really sweet film.

You will recognize someone in it. He was in In Bruges:D

I actually didn't know about the guy before seeing this movie. It was fascinating. That guy must've had some extreme will power. I thought about that the other day when I woke up and was really hungry. There's no way I could starve myself like that. That guy is just a tribute to how strong people can be and how far they're willing to go for something they believe in.

It is probably my favorite film of 2008. I actually read a review by The Daily Mail UK which said it was "Pro Terrorist propaganda."

I don't know directors, but I'll go with the directors who did Shaun of the Dead and District 9.

This. In Bruges is one of the most entertaining movies to come out of this decade. I never thought much of Colin Farrell until I saw In Bruges.

Memento wasn't Nolan's debut.
