The Illusionist is one of my favoroites, but it's tough to pick between Of Gods and men, Dogtooth, Blue Valentine, Another year, City of life and death, and The Illusionist. They are all so good in different ways.

Up in the Air - loved everything about it. It works on so many levels, as a comedy, drama, romantic, even historical (GFC etc). Then there was the big ones like The Social Network, Inception. Two American independent films I really liked were Greenberg and The Messenger. It was a good year for indie films.

Carlos. Hard to imagine a film that can keep you interested when it carries a five and a half hour runtime. But this film does it with ease.
