I'm not really a fan of any of those, but Pantera is the most talented out of the choices. None of those other guitarists could probably touch Dime Bag. If you know about guitar and Pantera, you should know that his playing was insane. His harmonics and his expression. You knew it was Dime just buy hearing his lead. they also had a great vocalist and drummer. They're also one of the only bands that got less mainstream as time went on(maybe with the exception of reinventing the steel).
Oh my....this is an EASY choice. Iron Maiden. They more or less created Power Metal. I can't believe Metallica is being picked over Maiden. Maiden has more Great ALBUMS than Metallica has Great SONGS. I went to a Maiden Concert in Chicago this last fall. AMAZING! Bruce Dickinson is a God.
Don't get me wrong. Sabbath is amazing as well, having Pioneered Metal along with Maiden. I'm just partial to Maiden. I love Dio though :-pCalcheesmo
All the bands are very influential. I dislike power metal so I'm not into Dickinson's vocals. As far as Sabbath, I recognize and respect their place in metal, but to me the riffs get old and there's not much variation in song-writing. People have different tastes. I see Pantera being pretty important in modern heavy metal, especially engineering-wise.
none of the above what ever happened to TRIVIUM!!!!! DRAGONFORCE Trivium is utter crap.... and their "metalness" is always up for discussion. I think he just picked 5 bands that people generally agree are metal.
