Who do you think is the best Metal vocalist?
My favourites are King Diamond, Rob Halford, Bruce Dickinson and Ronnie James Dio. And if you count Alice In Chains as Metal too I'm saying Layne Staley.

Mikael Akerfeldt
VITRIOL (Dave Hunt)
Garm (Kristoffer Rygg)
Francesco Paoli
Neige
Vladimir Cochet
Maybe Jason Keyser...
tomas lindberg. i remember listening to "with fear i kiss the burning darkness" years and years ago, when i first got into metal, and to this day i still think he's got one of the most passionate and almost disturbing voices i've ever heard in metal.
Oh I know. :Pvitriol is ****ing nuts. and neige is superb.

< Oh I know. :P Saturos3091You might want to edit. FYI
Anyway I'm more familiar with the cIassics like Halford, Dio, and Dickenson....
Dave Hunt, Warrel Dane, Ross Dolan, and Jari Maenpaa, just to name a few. Darth-Caedus

check out silencer. dude sounds like a suicidal clown. i love it.shimmyshnarddI listen to them already, but I'm really not a fan of the styIe. It's too distracting and doesn't flow with the music. However it is a really unique styIe (well, compared to non-DSBM bands :P).

I think they fit the music though, so I guess in a way it works out really well. Wormed is interesting as well, although when I listen to them I think of a lot of slam death bands like Abominable Putridity, Devourment, and Vomit The Soul (not that that's a bad thing in that case). It depends for me. If it's unique and works, great. If it's unique and doesn't work, it beats everything but the best-executed, stale and overdone vocals.[QUOTE="Saturos3091"][QUOTE="shimmyshnardd"]check out silencer. dude sounds like a suicidal clown. i love it.shimmyshnardd

His voice in Sex & Religion was pretty good although it was not a metal album. Other than that I've only listened to Addicted! and Ziltoid and I guess I didn't pay much attention to his voice :P
[QUOTE="Yandere"]His singing sounds almost like burping.. Just saying. They play pretty awesome though.Mark Pearce and Chris (I don't know his last name)
It's ear sex.

Slam/goregrind tends to sound like that. Here's another example, one that I definitely prefer thanks to the much thicker and fat production (but this thread is about vocals so that doesn't matter :P).

yeah it was, the dude has a good voice, and can play guitar pretty well, I think Vai gave him some lessons :Pin terms of actual singing talent, you can't beat Rob Halford. The guy can hit four octaves. Amazing.
That being said, I've always liked Dez Fafara.(DevilDriver, before that Coal Chamber.)

I liked that one alooooot better. Was amazing. He does have a pretty cool voice. My brother used to have a Coal Chamber CD. Only song I remember is SWAY =Pin terms of actual singing talent, you can't beat Rob Halford. The guy can hit four octaves. Amazing.

Why? It takes talent too. :| They may not be comparable in styIe to clean vocalists, but there are great artists in other styIes that deserve just as much recognition. Why people are posting vocallists of more extreme styles is beyond question.
WushuFighter
Ozzy, Dio, Halford and Dickinson. James Hetfield flexes his vocal strengths in a few songs such as Nothing Else Matters and The Unforgiven also, but he's nowhere near the other four.
Clean Vocals aren't always the best, so some death metal vocalists could be some peoples favorite vocalists. I love Amon Amarth's vocalist, Johan Hegg I think his name is or something. I don't like Suicide Silence, but their vocalist can go from extreme high to extreme low really quick which takes a lot of talent too.Why people are posting vocallists of more extreme styles is beyond question.

If you're a metal fan I can't recommend any band more than DevilDriver. They rule.

Whereas if you wanted to learn to actually sing, you either have to naturally talented or spend a huge portion of your life practising.

They aren't the best. But good clean vocals sound "better" than good harsh vocals. Even better is the ability to do both well such as Warrel Dane or Jari Mäenpää.
