I love all of them but The Life of Brian is the best by far. It is the most consistantly funny and it has the most interesting story. Meaning of life was a bit hit and miss but it was very good for the most part.

The Holy Grail, mainly because of the invincible Black Knight.

But Life of brian has the better ending:P I love that song.
Always look on the bright side of life doo doo...heh. LOB is in my top 5 movies of all time and is perhaps the best comedy I have seen. All Monty Python movies are fantastic, but LOB is the best.[QUOTE="Film-Guy"][QUOTE="applesxc47"]

He was fantastic. You should see the recent Monty Python documentary Almost the truth. I love that part in Life of brian when the aliens fly brian into space for no reason:lol:
[QUOTE="SaintLeonidas"]I found Spamalot to be better then them all, but out of those Holy Grail would be my favorite.Film-Guy
I never got a chance to see that:P I do love Michael Palin's travel documentaries:D
I have to admit my view on Spamalot vs the film is a bit one sided seeing how what made Spamalot so great for me was a moment in the play when the mustache of one of the actors began to fall off and they just went with it :lol:Always look on the bright side of life doo doo...heh. Grahams always been my favorite, his performances always stand out.[QUOTE="FamiBox"]
You forgot "And Now For Something Completely Different."
Film-Guy
I wouldnt really call that a movie. More of a best of collection of sketches. Still a good one though.
Bu bu-- it was released in cinemas.
Anyway, although it's only a bunch of the best sketches re-recorded for an American audience, the material is still better than the sketches in The Meaning of Life movie (for the most part.)
I would say in order of best: TLOB > THG > ANFSCD > TMOL.

Grahams always been my favorite, his performances always stand out.I like Chapman and Michael Palin the most. Palin seems like such a nice fellow. I read the Michael Palin diaries recently and it was great. They are all good in their own ways. Terry Gilliam may not have had many roles, heck most of his roles are the weird side characters. However as a director he has had the best career after Python.
Somewhat similar to the Mel Brooks conundrum involving Blazing Saddles & Young Frankenstein, initially I enjoyed the older more wacky Blazing Saddles but later learned to appreciate Young Frankenstein for its superior story and the tightness of the dialogue. When I was younger I was all over Holy Grail like you wouldn't believe. Any local theatre that was showing it I would be there as fast as humanly possible to catch a precious showing.
When Life of Brian was initially released in the theatres I was very glad to have a new film, but it just wasn't full of the wacky zany mad-cap scenarios I was used to. As I've watched both of them over the years however much like Young Frankenstein I've grown to appreciate Life of Brian for its superior story and the quality the line deliveries.
So Life of Brian for me.

Eric Idle, and Chapman, just look at Eric makes me chuckle for some reason, just thinking of him singing on the cross is good enough to make me laugh. By the way that song is playing at my funeral, totally.[QUOTE="Film-Guy"][QUOTE="Im_single"] Grahams always been my favorite, his performances always stand out.Im_single

All their careers after Python have been a bit hit and miss. Terry Jones hasn't done much major work recently. Palin keeps doing his awesome travel documentaries, Gilliam does his weird and wonderful films, Idle does his songs, Cleese is pretty much playing himself most of the time though I love Fawlty towers, and Graham Chapman hasn't done anything in years for some reason.

I certainly hope that's a joke! :P
The Life of Brian is a close second, and there are others that are deserving of mention.
BUT there is nothing like a rousing chorus of Brave Sir Robin
Brave Sir Robin ran away
Bravely ran away, away
When danger reared its ugly head
He bravely turned his tail and fled
Yes, brave Sir Robin turned about
And gallantly he chickened out
Bravely taking to his feet
He beat a very brave retreat
Bravest of the brave, Sir Robin.
and on Home they had a Monty Python Special where you could buy either the Sir Robin armour or the Black Knight "It's Only a Scratch" armour.
along with some other really cool items.
The Holy Grail, by leaps and bounds. raven_squadThe Holy Grail, easily, and I have to say that beyond the early parts The Life of Brian kind of sucks...
Apart from the sanitation, medicine, education, wine, public order, irrigation, roads, the fresh water system and public health, what have the Romans ever done for us? They gave us the Life of Brian. Nuff said.
I have to go with The Life of Brian. I should re-watch The Meaning of Life because I haven't seen it in a while.Jazz_Fan
Oh fishy, fishy, fishy ... FISH!
Gonna go with The Holy Grail. Yes, Life of Brian is consistantly funny. But Holy Grail was the first of Monty Python I had ever seen.
That's what over the course of time made me so sick of Holy Grail, people inexplicably think it's even funnier when they quote it over and over again.Holy Grail is my most talked about one with friends and easily the funniest to me
