Sherlock Holmes surprised me. Robert Downey jr., and Jude Law were much better than I was expecting. They had great chemistry. The plot may not have been that good, and the slow motion annoyed me at times but it was a decent film.

I just watched Avatar today. Easily my favourite movie of 2009. I'd rate it as one of my favourites also.

Inglourious Basters was a rank movie.

There were only 3 people that lived in that whole movie.

I did like The Hangover though.

I was actually thinking Jude Law could have played Holmes well. Also I like the idea of an older Sherlock Holmes, someone like Timothy Dalton could play him very well. If Holmes had to be younger though then Paddy Considine could play him too.

Can't really think of anything else I'm certain came out this year, and I've had a disturbing lack of opportunity to see indie films and The Road.

I haven't seen many new movies this year but the ones I liked were Star Trek, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, and The Hangover. Watchmen was okay, but not as good as the graphic novel. Terminator Salvation and Wolverine were dissappointing.

Loved Sherlock Holmes, it was cool the way he explained what he did and it's affects before doing it. The worlds greatest dad. How I hated that movie, it was just so stupid. I mean some on, smack the kid across the face, take his computer away. I didn't even find it too funny, I mean sure there's times where I smiled but nothing more than that.

Yeah World's greatest dad seems to be a love or hate kinda film. I loved the dark humor in it, and how we are meant to hate the kid. Robin Williams was great in it too. The plot was a bit ridiculous, but I think that added to the film. There have been 3 great dark comedies this year, Bad Lieutenant, A Serious Man, and Worlds greatest dad. Usually there is not even 1.

No, it's not a bad thing, I mean it was a crazy movie. It's hilarious, though, when Hitler is just layin' dead and you see all the bullets spray onto his face, that's funny. And come to think of it, the black guy probably got away too.

The fact that the school year changes in the middle of the calendar year always throws me off when thinking about albums/movies/books of the year. The spring and the start of summer seem like ages ago.

Exactly. I watched that on DVD about two months ago and was thinking it came out in '08 until I read this week that it was a 2009 release.

Did you just post a bigger list than me:evil: Good list though, some interesting choices too. I quite liked Extact, I think it was more consistant than Idiocracy, and people seem to forget about Sunshine cleaning but I quite liked it too. Last house on the left is one of the few remakes that is better than the original. Glad you liked The Vicious kind, I thought it was one of the biggest surprises of 2009. Adam Scott was fantastic, and so was J.K Simmons. I really wanted to like Duplicity since I loved Michael Clayton, but for some reason it felt overly complex and quirky. Clive Owen, and Julia Roberts were great in it though. Also I am glad you picked Whip it, the story may have been cliche as hell, but I found it to be very delightful. Ellen Page was great in it. The Girlfriend experience is an interesting choice, did you see Soderberg's other film this year The Informant? I have always liked him as a director, his films Che, and Bubble are my favorites of his recently. You should see Yesterday was a lie, it is a strange sci fi film noir that might be on DVD by now. I really wanted to see 35 shots of rum since it was playing at my local arthouse theater, but I cant drive yet so I missed it since my friend wanted to see something else.

Yes I did post a bigger list :P but this list ranges from 10/10 - 6/10, mainly just all the films I enjoyed.I watched Whip It last night, and as you said it did have a lot of cliches, but it was such a fun and entertaining film, the story had its touching moments and the acting was great from Ellen Page. I did not see The Informant, but there was just something I really liked and admired about The Girlfriend experience.
