What do you think is the best movie of all time? I saw Fitzcarraldo just yesterday and I think I would rate it up there. Just an amazing performance and it felt so rewarding because of how well it was done.

Jaws
A technical achievement of the relationship between editing and sound. Seriously, you don't even see the shark for a good half of the film. Through the use of visual cues and music do we know the shark is around or about to attack. For a film that was the first "blockbuster" hit, released everywhere in the United States nationwide(a first for films back then), and tapped into the fears of the unknown so much that people for several years to this day have an uneasiness of being in water is quite an achievement. Also, just the dynamic interactions between the three characters when they go out to sea to kill the shark is interesting and the audience begins to grow an attachment to them. I can't stress enough that this is an unappreciated "best film of all time".

I am just surprised that his movies are considered good (from some prespective). I was surprised reading the wikipedia article on Bad Taste, too and what it says about its influence.
I havent seen any of his other movies except LOTR. I hear Heavenly Creatures is a good movie by him.
