Haven't seen that many, which is why I'm asking.

pain-and-gain.jpg
Pain and Gain: Black Dramedy with action (minimal if any CGI+) and plenty of eye-candy, Michael Bay with a fun cast, and a true story? Favorite film so far this year, classic.

Screen-Shot-2012-12-22-at-6.49.54-AM-600
Place Beyond the Pines: Touching epic with great performances. Several intense scenes and a haunting theme song.

Place Beyond the Pines is the best I've seen this year, although I haven't seen very many movies.

The only major movie I have seen in theaters so far was The Evil Dead which was an AWESOME movie!

Got Iron Man 3 and the new Star Trek to see here in the next couple weeks though, Star Trek being my most hyped movie of the year.

The Place Beyond the Pines and Stoker are the best movies I've seen this year.

I also really enjoyed The Last Stand, but I'm probably alone on that.

Oblivion was surprisingly good.  It starts out like any other cookie-cutter Tom Cruise vanity action flick, but for the last two-thirds of the movie, it suddenly turns into a solid sci-fi flick.

Just saw Star Trek: Into Darkness and it's probably the most thrilling film i've seen so far this year. Ironman3 was good also whilst Pace Beyond the Pines almost literally bored me (and the wife) to tears.

I think the newest movie I have seen (not quite 2013) is Silver Linings Playbook, which is pretty good.  I actually didnt get to finish it just yet, but I am close.

42. I feel like i would have liked oblivion if i hadn't seen moon already. Oblivion was clearly trying to imitate moon.

Only one Ive seen so far is The Hobbit, (though its allmost 2013). I thought it was ok, but I prefer Lord of the Rings. Maybe the other two films will be better. Oblivion looks good though. To be honest the last few months or so, ive been watching a lot of previously released films that ive not seen before. Some released in the last decade or two and also some older films from 80s, 70s and one from 60s, that being To Kill a Mocking Bird

I feel like saying Bioshock Infinite, because it may as well be a movie. Quite like the story and atmosphere and how it unfolded.

Amour and Silver Linings Playbook. Iron Man 3 was terrible. Such a letdown compared to the first movie. "Lets rescue the President!!"

I'm planning on watching Place Beyond the Pines and Mud, but I haven't really seen that many movies this year besides Iron Man 3. Also Star Trek is coming out next week!

I've barely seen any. Only ones I've seen in theaters this year are the Purge (predictable but still entertaining in a dumb way) Evil Dead (entertaining if you love splatter horror and did decent service to the original, although it doesn't come close to that masterpiece) The Conjuring (most generic POS I've ever seen. I have no idea how it got such good feedback) The Hobbit (pretty meh, especially compared to the original trilogy) and You're Next (which was utterly phenomenal. Easily my favorite thus far). Aside from that, no movies have really interested me, especially the superhero ones.

Now that the year is over with, I can give a much better opinion here.

Desolation of Smaug absolutely blew me away and might just be my favorite movie this year. It even manages to be good competition for my favorite LoTR movie which is saying A LOT with how much I love that series!

Other big mentions are The Conjuring for being far and away the single best horror movie I have ever seen (and I am someone who LOVES the horror genre), Star Trek: Into Darkness for being tons of awesome (and an amazing IMAX experience), and of course This Is the End and Anchorman 2 for being two absolutely HILARIOUS movies that had me laughing throughout their entire lengths!

Star Trek Into Darkness was my favorite, but I'm kind of a sci fi fan. Also, how do 7 month old threads get picked up again?
