Best Musical Decade?

Which decade was the best for music? I would say 70s because of Led Zeppelin, The Eagles, The Who (formed in 60s, best music in early 70s), The Steve Miller Band, and tons of other great classic rock.

Yeah, 60s were the next best, especially the end of the 60s. Beatles are one of the best bands ever, so that alone could make the 60s unbelievable.

70's but 60's a very close second.

70's had the likes of Zeppelin, Pink floyd, the who, Eagles, Black Sabbath, etc....

60's had Beatles, Jimi Hendrix and Woodstock :D

The 70's by far. It had the best prog rock. I love the 90's and the 80's too but I prefer the 90's even though the 80's had some great alternative bands.

I agree in some ways. 80's alternative scene had some amazing bands like Siouxsie and the banshees, XTC, Jesus and mary chain, Psychedelic furs, Husker du, the go betweens, The Replacements, Robyn hitchcock & The Egyptians, X, The Fall, Cocteau twins, dead can dance, Gun club, and Meat Puppets are all fantastic bands. However the 80's also had mostly pretty bad prog music and some of the 80's bands got better in the 90's like Pulp. Plus the 90's had brit pop so overall I prefer that decade though it is a tough choice.

It's hard to remember back to the eras when there were songs on the radio you could actually sing to and still relate to today! Something tells me generations 20-40 years from now aren't going to still be listening to the likes of Poker Face. :lol:

I like the music of our generation a lot.

Not the mainstream music, but there is so much available now, plus the fact that you can now listen to all decades of music.

I just didn't like much of the music in that decade. Like I said at the beginning of my post, it's merely for me. I've actually tried to like the Cure, but I just don't... get it. I respect them tremendously because they influenced my favorite band ("All of This" is one of my fave songs by blink, btw), but for a lack of a better explanation, I'll just say again that I don't get it. battlefront23

The 1970s. Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Black Sabbath, Van Halen, funk acts...

Most of the music I listen to is from 2000-2010, so I guess that's my favorite. The 80's also had some great music, especially pop.

Easily the 90's.

Loved Grunge, radio music in general was great (granted I don't mind radio now just have to find the right station that sticks wth rock).

So many awesome bands either started out in the 90's or put out their best music in the 90's:

Nirvana (Best music was put out in the 90's)

Opeth (Started in 90's. I say their best work is Blackwater Park but they also had great albums in the 90's)

Muse (Started at the end of the 90's. Best work came out right at the turn of the millenium though with Origin of Symmetry)

Foo Fighters (Started in the 90's)

Megadeth (Rust in Peace is easily their best work)

Etc.

This past decade has been great too with both Opeth and Muse releasing ther best works in the last decade. Not only that, but rght at the end of the decade we got two great debuts, Cage the Elephant and Them Crooked Vultures.

The 80's were also great. The 60's and 70's though I don't care much for as both decades combined I could still likely count the bands I care for out of that decade on one hand....
