I would have to say Labyrinth. I'm not a big fan of musical but I really love this one cause it's so different to others. Tim Burton's musical ones don't even come close

sweeney todd is the only one that ever struck me, though i do get some laughs out of jesus christ superstar.LoG-SacramentSweeney Todd was a good film, but it was a crappy musical when compared to the brilliant stageplay.
I'm going with Singin' in the Rain.
I hate this movie. I want to enjoy it as stupid fun, but it's too dark and cynical for that. It's a stain upon the otherwise spotless history of old-school Jim Henson.

Pokemon 2000. VanHelsingBoA64I'm not sure what the heck you're talking about, but that opening short from the first Pokemon movie is like watching LSD in action.

I'm sorry, but I can't understand your position at all... How is this movie anything short of the perfect example of Jim Henson's incredible talent? Just because it has darker undertones in addition to some sillier asides doesn't mean it's terrible. It just means the movie has several levels on which it can entertain.

i saw it free of anything lofty to compair it to. ive never seen the play or any half way decent musicals (just jc superstar, sound of music, some muscial about the american revolution that wasnt worth remembering, and a few annoying musicals with puppets).
DUHHHH
InsomniacZombie
Yep, that is the correct answer.
The german film poster just reminded me of the german name for "Monty Python and the Holy Grail", "Ritter des Kokosnuss", meaning Knights of the coconut.
Much better title, IMO.
In my opinion two of the best are My Fair Lady and The Umbrellas of Cherbourg.
My personal favorites would be Starstruck (1982) and The GoldDiggers of 1933 although pretty much any musical by Busby Berkeley is a solid evening of entertainment in my book.

I don't know what you are talking about. Sweeny Todd is a great musical and a great movie. Did you know they do all the real singing while there acting?? You have to admit for the way it came out that its pretty amazing. Plus it's not like one of those boring movies that always have a happy ending that you can predict. Not that i son't like other musicals like that. But its refreshing, something you can't get tired of watching.I'm going to agree on South Park : Bigger, Longer, and Uncut.
Some honorable mentions would be The Sound of Music, Labyrinth, and Repo! The Genetic Opera.
Wow, quite a lot here I've never heard of...some I wouldn't see...but everyone's opinion on the best will be different, so maybe the question should have been what's your favorite...so, my favorite(s) are The Sound of Music, My Fair Lady, The King and I (Yul Brynner) and The Phantom of the Opera (it is a fantastic musical...regardless of the book).
Across The Universe.MissRiotmaker
This, it was such an awesome movie. Really loved the 'Happiness is a warm gun' scene. Salma nurses...mmmmm.
