Hate to sound cliche, but it was a videogame. Ninja Gaiden Black for $30, came with an awesome t-shirt w/ the pre-order, and I got countless hours of the game (my personal favorite to this day).
Anyway, My best purchase is probably 5 coppies of Mario kart double dash for the gamecube. There was a problem with the price thing in the store and it said it was £5.99 when it had just been released. I bought 5 coppies and took them strait to the nearest game store and traded them in for £25 each and bought a tonne of great games.

well i dont have a best purchase but i do have a best year for purchasing. "from feb 07- to feb 08" i bought a xbox360, psp, ds, ps3, and more than 70 games.
