I would say 1st SFOD-D AKA Delta Force

I've heard Canada has a Special forces unit that's on par with the navy seals.
I imagine it's pretty similar but with thicker beards, and men riding polar bears.

Don't mess with canadaNo insulting but i wonder what the SAS did you guys claim it's the best? (Besides being the protagonists on CoD4 lol)Hiddai
They are essentially the special forces that the rest of the world models their special forces on. Delta force was essentially created as an answer to the SAS but have a remarkably poor track record.
The SAS have an outstanding track record throughout every war or proxy war the UK has ever been engaged in.
IMO what makes them the best is their selection process.

Yeah... They are sacking 5000 soldiers because of government cuts. It's got to be done though, we aren't at war after all.

no , it doesn't.
that is extremely naive.

Not really. There are more than a few bad aspects to that side of the coin I agree. But puclic service spending is the primary reason for national debt. I agree the cuts would be better placed in other areas first and it is a bit short sighted of them, but we aren't at war. We will still have a lot of soldiers, just 5000 less to feed, pay, train, cloth etc.Â
Thinking we can keep going the way we are in this economic climate is naive. I just wish the government would direct it's cuts towards other things first.

military spending should only be touched in dire circumstances... i'm not sure if the uk is at that point just yet.
like you said there are plenty other things they could cut first.

I agree but when was the last time they did something big? you know... Take MATKAL for example they did some classic s**t back in the 70s like hostage rescues[QUOTE="Leejjohno"][QUOTE="Hiddai"]No insulting but i wonder what the SAS did you guys claim it's the best? One thing they were famous for around the world was the Iranian embassy siege in London. That incident lead to other countries actively seeking SAS intervention.

Everything SF units do is mostly TS. But when you compare some of the biggest ops in the last 60 years of units such as SAS, MATKAL, DEVGRU and more i'm not sure the former has THAT impressive record (no disrespect of course. I do love the SAS)[QUOTE="Leejjohno"][QUOTE="Hiddai"] I agree but when was the last time they did something big? you know... Indeed, both Delta and MATKAL drew a lot from the SASOne of American ones, probably Nave SEALs. Largest pool of candidates, most money given for training, best intelligence, and best equipment available.the_ChEeSe_mAn2Indeed you have the most money but i'm not sure about the best intelligence everybody knows the CIA is a clumsy organisation lol
