Ummm TC, I am pretty sure Tron was not based on any existing video game....
As for the question, Silent Hill is hands down the best video-game based movie I have seen, even if it was quite flawed. The whole air-raid siren touch that they put into the movie was just awesome. I still remember being in awe when that siren went off and the screen went black.
The original Mortal Kombat movie was pretty badass, and if you are looking for an awesomely cheesey movie Street Fighter is the way to go! Raul Julia was at least pretty damn awesome as Bison in that movie! Sad he passed away after that movie when he was so young...
My vote also goes to Silent Hill. Great movie with a haunting ending.
The finale is pretty damn brutal and EPIC!!!

too bad the sequel was utter crap.
TOPIC: 1st resident evil
The Original Silent Hill. Movies based on games we all know, are bad.
Silent Hill (the first one) felt like the game, captured a fair bit of it's atmosphere and did a pretty good job of fleshing out it's premise but I would of preferred it to of kept things as vague as the game, it's part the mystery of Silent Hill and part of the debate and theories that made the franchise work in the past.
I sometimes think that's where the games been going wrong as of late.
I can't think of any other game move I enjoyed. Hate Resident Evils although I can understand the directors approach, silly OTT action is pretty much what Resident Evil is when you look at the games.
This is like asking which pile of poop is the least stinky. Tron doesn't count since it wasn't based on any existing game (although there are several games based on the film franchise).
Never really got myself into RE, only because of that laser scene in the first movie is the worst part of them all, after the first crap,I would definitely enjoy it better
Tomb Raider, though the movies sucked.
God you suck. > 10,000 posts consisting purely of pedantic garbage.
This is going to be a clique, but Mortal Kombat. I mean the goals of that film were so low, it sort of executed all of them. Mortal Kombat characters? Check! Fight scenes? Check! Plot? No... it should have one? Nop... It's fun, and at this point that's the best thing you can say about a videogame adaption.
I have never played Silent Hill, but I thoroughly enjoyed the movie.
I can't think of any other decent examples sadly.
I don't care what anyone says Mortal Kombat was epic! That theme song gives me too much adrenaline! I also dig the Resident Evil 1 movie because of the laser beam scene. Honestly, the movie I liked the most that had videogame nostalgia in it was Wreck-It Ralph, totally recommend that one
Metal Gear Solid 4..
this joke will never get old
Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children Complete is the best one. it's more a sequel than an adaptation, though.
I thought Prince of Persia: the Sands of Time was decent, so I'll go with that one as option B
Mortal Kombat is the embodiment of everything I love about the 90s; something that any future Mortal Kombat movie (or video game movie) would not be able to offer.
Loved the setting and atmosphere from Silent Hill. I felt like I was watching more than just a movie.
Aren't they making a Halo movie? I vote for that one too.
It was going to be made, but it became District 9 instead. In all honesty I think it turned out for the better, as much as I love Halo...
Super Mario Bros for sure. That is definitely the best game to then be turned into a movie. The movie however, was terrible.
Resident Evil Damnation was pretty damn good. Beat the live action movies and Degeneration by a lot. Silent Hill and MK are the only live action game movies I liked and FFVII Advent Children.
Anyone remember the old Mortal Kombat TV series from the 90's? I thought they were great when i was a kid. Better than any video game based movie.

Okay, Scorpion jumping out of the way at the :47 mark is HILARIOUS!
Silent Hill. Absolutely fantastic movie, if a bit limited in scope due t the source material.
Dead or Alive was...stimulating and entertaining.
Mortal Kombat was ok, but only because it didn't pretend to be something it isn't. It knew it was corny B-rate flick and it reveled it in that knowledge.
Mortal Kombat, saw it as a child back in the 90s and thought it was great, still do as a matter of fact.
Have to Agree with the people who say Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children Complete. The only other acceptable game>movie was Prince of Persia.

LOL, I never noticed how bad that was till you pointed it out. Wow, guess it was cancelled for a reason.

Tron doesn't count...really?!
Nobody here ever played the Tron arcade game (coin operated) back in the 80's? I pumped a lot of quarters into that machine. Maybe I'm just too old...

Yep. I remember a couple days after seeing the movie, I was in a rural town that had the exact same siren to announce 12:00. I started losing my shit.
