but there is no sound in space. literally so if you were in space battle and one of the ships blew up, you wouldn't hear anything, because there is no air in space, even if the ship was right next to yours, if you were in the ship with air inside you probably might hear your blasters firing off

but there would be no sounds of lasers firing, no proton guns, rail guns, death star rays, blasters, anything, in sci fi it's overlooked all the time and we never think about it but its true, imagine star wars in silent mode

i think it sucks though, sound would be awesome in space but oh well, we'll have to deal with it
oh and same applies for a planet or star blowing up

supernova can be "heard" in another type of radiation though but not like in your ears

I knew that already, but some sounds can be heard, but only if they surpass a nuke being blown right next to you, and even then they would only sound as loud as a pin dropping.

In the movie "2001: A Space Odyssey" they actually did have a scene in which there was an explosion in space and they actually did the entire scene in absolute silence until the main character got into a chamberlock and had the air pumped into it.

I thought explosions couldn't happen in space because there is no oxygen. No oxygen, no fire, right?

fires don't cause all explosions in the universe, nova are when stars blow up, it doesn't come from fire or any oxygen, its when the star uses up to much of its mass and blows out all its layers until a smaller star is left behind in an "explosion" a nova basically, but nothing to do with fire

and ships could be battling and one gets shot in the engines or critically damaged it would just blow up right? no need for oxygen to do that

and planets.......they don't blow up well i've never heard of them doing so in real life and for one to blow up, actually i don't think with anything we have or anything natural in space that planets can just blow up

yeah, sure

it's plasma, the sun is made of plasma and gas, its surface is pretty much 100% plasma
but the sun's plasma isn't really fire

so i think no

No medium = No sound. Space is a vacuum, hence no sound in space. I thought most people knew that.
