Im a christian but i was thinking about believing Big bang and chritianity. Until i found a major hole in the big bang theory the 2nd law of thermo dynamics it completely violates it.
This topic is locked from further discussion.
the 2nd law of thermo dynamics is and equations that represents the increase of entropy to the increase of heat. The more heat the more entropy. Entropy is likewasted atoms or elements, in other words the hotter things get the more random atoms get, it isbasically the exact opposite of what the big bang theory states.that a infinitely hot explosion or expansion created an ordered universe.

Entropy simply says that a closed system will lose energy over time. The big bang does not violate this. The universe started off with a certain amount of energy, and its continually losing energy to this day. But the "order" as you call it, in the universe comes from the fundemental forces. Namely the two atomic forces and gravity. They are what allow atoms to form, matter to pull itself together, and all large structures in the universe to exist. Entropy will one day far far in the future overcome these forces, but for the time being, the fundemental forces hold everything together.the 2nd law of thermo dynamics is and equations that represents the increase of entropy to the increase of heat. im pretty sure the whole point is that there were loads of random atoms that spread out and created the universe(if not, this is now known as the Manfattan theory :D)...also i really dont see why christians are so quick to judge the big bang theory, when they believe that the whole complexity of the universe was just randomly created by a god.

Thats if you exclude the universe from the closed system theres nothing stoping us from icluding the universe in the system which would make entropy a factor. If you look at stephen hawkins he said that the universe even in the beggining abided by the same laws. Also another subsection to the bigbang is that the universe is eternal which means that the universe should no longer be around because entropy should have already done the job in destroying the whole universe.the 2nd law of thermo dynamics is and equations that represents the increase of entropy to the increase of heat. So you're now arguing that there is no entropy? Then what was the point of this topic again? Also the universe cant be losing energy because that would violate the first law of thermo dynamics.

An interesting fact, that may provide some insight, or answers. The physicist who concluded that the Universe was expanding (ie. big bang theory) was a Roman Catholic priest. Put that in your pipe and smoke it.
Now all of you Religion haters who discredit everything said by a religious person better get working on a BS loophole.
[QUOTE="kneeha"]So you're now arguing that there is no entropy? Then what was the point of this topic again?no im not saying there is no entropy, entropy is not the loss of energy its energy used in unproductively. My point is thatthe big bang theory has a huge hole in it.Also the universe cant be losing energy because that would violate the first law of thermo dynamics.

lol ... is the only thing i can think of to describe this!

See now if you want a big bang controversy, you need too look here. Its not enough to discredit the theory, but its a real thorn in cosmologists sides'.My biggest problem with the Big Bang is the theorized faster-than-light expansion.

First you say that the big bang can't happen becuase of entropy, and now you're saying that entropy violates the first law of thermodynamics. I mean all of you're arguments are wrong in the first place, but now your wrong arguments are contradicting each other.[QUOTE="ProudLarry"][QUOTE="kneeha"]

I think you have it the wrong way.
The Big Bang Theory states that the universe expanded out of a superhot singularity. The expansion and spread of heat means that entropy is increasing, not decreasing, as it is now spreading over a greater area.
This is the same reason a hot object left at room temp will cool. Heat spreads out in order to increase the entropy of the entire system, not just the single object.

Space can expand faster than light.
The light speed limit only refers to objects moving THROUGH space. Space itself can most definitely expand faster than the speed of light.

Ok I get what your saying thats neat. But how does explain the intense temperatures of the original density, How would they have originally compacted with what we know about entropy. Also what about the increase in temperature in the beginning of the bang how would the matters known as stars planets compacted into forms with the intense temperatures.[QUOTE="ProudLarry"][QUOTE="kneeha"]

My point is thatthe big bang theory has a huge hole in it. The Big Bang theory has multiple holes -- that's why it's still a theory (instead of fact). I would not be shocked if a new theory overtook the Big Bang theory in the next 100 years or so because our knowledge of the universe hasn't even begun to scratch the surface. Still, I find the Big Bang theory much more plausible than the story of creation (which is, after all, a story).http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zIRW_elc-rY

no, Manfattan...and yes, its my name so whats your problem with me making stuff up and calling it a theory after my own name?
Going back to the first post, and your concern about being Christian an believing the Big Bang. This may very well be the first "physical" cause, but what caused that. "Why" was there a Big Bang? If you look at the principle of first cause there must be an outside being/force that started the chain.
