Does the color black hold any significance to you? If so, what significance?
This topic is locked from further discussion.
The only significance it holds from me is that it attracts a ton of heat from the sun.

Yeah. It does tend to do that.
Its a cool color. Especially a rich dark black.Tauruslink
But it's the absence of color! rarararararar :twisted:
edit: Well, light, but...you get it.
[QUOTE="Astrapsody"][QUOTE="LJS9502_basic"]I tend to wear it a lot.....LJS9502_basic

It matches my dark heart.....:x(note: keep an eye on LJS9502_basic)
Yep, it sure...sure does. :?
I associate black with darkness. Darkness means I can get some sleep at night without it being becoming bright before 2 am, or not getting dark at all. Probably don't have it bad here compared to up north, but it's very annoying. I don't think black is a very tasteful color if it's only a solid color black with no variation in shading but it can be pretty cool sometimes.

Is your name Bruce? You look just like someone I used to know. Back on topic though my camera is also black. I think in general electronics seem expensive and to have a higher quality if they are that glossy black. These days though almost everything is though...Good colour for a lot of things. It's just an all round good colour.

It's just a great colour that always works.

Not if you use it to color your text on Gamespot, haha.

Isn't the only reason you can see it, the fact that there is color around it?

By that logic then a blue figure in a red room is technically only visible because the rest of the room is not blue. If the rest of the room is blue, then the room is object is colorless? It's still the color blue. Same with black. It's only considered to be achromatic in the umbra part of a shadow. If you're in a well lit black room then the color black is there, clearly visible, isn't it?

Specific light frequency = colour
No light = no colour
No light = Only black visible.
No colour = black
Black = No colour

No, that's wrong. You see blue because the object you're looking at is reflecting blue light. Black, on the other hand, reflects no light.

What I learned in Physics =/= dictionary definition, apparently. Color is light. Black is the absence of light. The only reason you can "see" the "color" black in daylight is because it's surrounded by other colors.
Okay...try this one..... Black can be defined as the visual impression experienced when no visible light reaches the eye. (This makes a contrast with whiteness, the impression of any combination of colors of light that equally stimulates all three types of color-sensitive visual receptors.) Pigments that absorb light rather than reflect it back to the eye "look black". A black pigment can, however, result from a combination of several pigments that collectively absorb all colors. If appropriate proportions of three primary pigments are mixed, the result reflects so little light as to be called "black".Please Log In to post.
