Here's an interesting story I found:

Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) With the balance of power in Congress hanging in the air, a leading African American businessman says black voters in the United States should put their historical pro-life values above political party. That means voting for pro-life candidates rather than supporting Democratic candidates across the board.

Herman Cain is best known as the former chairman and CEO of Godfathers Pizza. He is a political commentator and was a candidate for the U.S. Senate.

More and more African Americans are pro-life," Cain said in a statement LifeNews.com obtained. Our message to African Americans is simple its time you vote for candidates who support our values."

Cain will underscore that message with a $1 million advertising campaign in key states and congressional districts targeting black radio programs and urban radio stations young African Americans enjoy. Some of the ads focus on abortion.

The campaign is a second go-round based on a highly successful Ohio campaign in 2004 that helped President Bush garner 17% of the African American vote in the Buckeye State double his vote total from the 2000 presidential race.

Considering the high rate of fatherless families in the black community, outlawing abortion would be disastrous for the for many poor black neighborhoods.

Not really. The black kids are better off having a chance to make something of themselves than getting killed in the womb.

Fatherless upbringings correlate strongly to criminal and deviant behavior. Fatherless families are overrepresented in poor black communities. Illegalizing abortion will only compound this problem, and that is undeniable.

No, it was much, much more idiotic than that. In your mind, allowing women to choose whether or not to bring a pregnancy to term in order to avoid compounding the issue of fatherless families, is the same as nuclear eradication of billions and the irradiation of a continent rich with natural resources to fight poverty. It is one of the stupidest things ever said on this forum, which is a feat in itself. You should feel proud. With thinking skills as pathetic as that, I doubt you'll have many accomplishments in life, so you should take what you can.

I don't know whether I should laugh or cry, he is talking about a pro life stance yet supports the cutting of programs that help people.. So apparently life is sacred and people need help only if its in the womb, if its after that.. Your fvcking on your own.. Its mind boggling how such views can exist in this country.

I sincerely doubt that the average IQ of blacks in the U.S. is so far below the national mean that they will put any significant stock in what this dishonest, ignorant and immoral bastion of stupidity has to say.

Yes that does if you in fact think life is sacred.. Yet we see motives of these people wanting to cut programs that aid the sick, poor and elderly that will undoubtably lead to more deaths... We have numerous inflamatory remarks by these types of people of basically suggesting they should starve and die, especially when it comes to the poor..

View A: Life starts at conception, therefore the state should protect the unborn as the first job of government is to protect life. View B: The federal government has no authority to fund these kinds of social programs. Moreover these programs cause dependence, and non-governmental alternatives would better help the people who need them. I'm not arguing for either of these views, but it is matter-of-factly not logically inconsistent to hold both of them. There is no contradiction.

Most people support what they do because they think it will help people. The idea that people who oppose socia programs want people to die is just as stupid as saying socialists and communists want people to starve. You can argue that's what it'll lead to, but in almost every case that's not what the proponents want.

Social conservatives are never going to be able to get the sort of super majority at the state and federal level to do anything about the fact abortion is legal; this is only a ploy to get people to vote against their best interests based on this one deeply polarizing issue.

Well, it's a free country and he has every right to do so if he wants. Tough luck if he wants people to vote for a pro-life president because there isn't one running this term.
