They do, but they aren't as immediate as throwing acid in someone's face. Why the hell didn't she do something about it before he threw acid in her eyes? I'm sure Iran has something similar to a restraining order

I knew someone would beat me to it >_>That's a rather literal interpretation of "eye for an eye".

Disgusting. There's no doubt in my mind that some "proud Americans" here would find the punishment fitting.JabbaDaHutt30Have you seen what condition he left the woman in?
Wow dude, the second picture is pretty... ****ing awful.Jandurin
Yeah, she wasn't just blinded by the attack. Her entire face is deformed, like something out of a comic book.

What do you think is fitting retribution? Edit: Or consequence, if you're afraid of just desserts.

Nonetheless, that's why I'm glad there are clauses against cruel and unusual punishment, and why we don't have the victims of crimes specify what should be done to the perpetrators of crimes against them While I agree that acid...ing his face as a form of court mandated punishment is... incorrect (partially because that means someone has to actually purposefully apply the acid to his face, partially because the law shouldn't... do such heinous things, and partially because it's pointless), I can't figure out what exactly should be done. Should he go to jail? Mental hospital? Have his head removed rather than deformed?
this is olllllld. They already ordered like month or two ago that 2 drops of the same solution be dropped in each of the attackers eyes.SouL-Tak3RWait, it's already happened? Like, they ordered that it will be done, or they ordered that it should be done, and set a date, and that date has not yet come?
[QUOTE="sammyjenkis898"][QUOTE="Funky_Llama"]Why?DrSpongeWhat would you want? "An eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind" We shouldn't bring ourselves to the level of the criminal. That answers what not to do, not what to do.
[QUOTE="sammyjenkis898"][QUOTE="Funky_Llama"]Why?DrSpongeWhat would you want? "An eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind" We shouldn't bring ourselves to the level of the criminal. Well, it's too late for that..
[QUOTE="JabbaDaHutt30"]It is not a matter of retribution.JandurinThen how about consequence  I do not want to decide what the ideal form of bunishment would be, since I don't want to imply that anything else would be an "unfit punishment." Why I am against this is because first of all, it is a form of torture. I am against torture. Second, the woman said that she wants to prevent such future incidents, and that she does not demand this course of action for the need of revenge. I believe she wants the wrong thing, for the right reason. There are other, less lustful ways of preventing such future happenings.
Another reason why I am against this would be that the court took on the victim's demand.
[QUOTE="XD4NTESINF3RNOX"][QUOTE="clembo1990"]In Iran? Hell yes. maybe in 500 years they'll discover mercy.DrSpongehe basically ruined her life why would he get mercy? Because we are civilised beings which provide people with basic human rights. Well, that is subjective but us being civilised is the general consensus.
Well the guys throwing acid from water bottles weren't very civilized. They deserve whatever punishment they get.

Answer me this: If you could look into this fellow's future. Like seriously see his whole life, and saw that without any punishment or consequence whatsoever, he lived a normal life from then on... would you say that then he deserved no punishment as whatever he had done in the past, his future was unblemished?
Unfortunately, people do not function that way. You don't just *change* all of a sudden.JabbaDaHutt30That was not an answer, and was not something I even agree with. Totally separate and incorrect aside.

You didn't answer his question. I too, am interested in your answer.
