I got it from HP. It's an HP Pavilion Elite. You can look it up there.

The final price was $1051.

I applied a $50 HP coupon found on the internet on some website + the computer has a $300 instant rebate (So actual cost was $1400 without coupon or rebate.) Doesn't even have to be paid for until June 2010.

Obviously a typo. Otherwise TC is screwed. Are there even "modern" mo-bos with only 1 USB port?

It has L3 cache that makes up for it. What's better than a 1366 i7? 640GB isn't small. 7200 rpm is not bad.

Well, he could buy one of those 1-to-4 USB converters, but it would subtract from the shopping experience.

7200rpm is fine, that's what all the decent platter-based drives are (10,000rpm drives are a rip-off). 640GB is small, though. I've got a 750GB main drive and a 1.5TB secondary drive and I still feel cramped.

Well if it was bigger they wouldn't need something to make up for the lack of L cache in the first place! 640 GB, let's see, my Naruto episodes and movies are 80 GB. That plus 35 modern games + 1 OS + some very nice eBooks and you're full. Time to reformat! An i7 975 is already 25% faster than what he has just in pure clock speed, without taking into account L cache expansions. 7200 rpm if you don't mind waiting for file operations.

I'd say HDD size depends largely on the user. I'm doing fine with 320GB internal and 1TB external.

IDK, but you could have built it yourself for under $1000.

but I didn't see where it said criticism was open. And all that is relative. I'm judging on the $100 he paid; its not what I would've gotten, but its not bad.

Correct, but 640 GB is nothing that lets me wear the proud badge of pride. Also, higher resolution video and bigger games will only cause 640 GB to become an ever-shrinking jacket.
