Hey guys, need to fill your tank up with gasoline? Don't do it at Citgo. I've had it up to here with that neo-fascist Hugo Chavez and his socialist anti-Americanism. If you are an American, left, right or middle, don't buy gasoline from the Citgo, a Venezuelan state ownedoil and gas company. Thats right, owned by the very man who is calling the US the evil empire. Just today I read something that pissed me off enough to make this post.

In front of a rally of thousands of supporters, Chavez said this:

""if the 'yes' vote wins on Sunday and the Venezuelan oligarchy, playing the [U.S.] empire's game, comes with their little stories of fraud" -- then he would order oil shipments to the United States halted Monday."

CNN

Boycott Citgo, tell your friends and family not to support that psycho and his neo-socialist regime.

Thanks everyone.

True, I don't expect to take down Citgo, but it depends on weather or not you want to contribute money to a guy who wants to screw us at every turn. Especially when you can by gasoline a dozen other places.

It's not just blind American patriotism, the man is running a repressive regime down there. Remember all those massive protests after he shut down several of the last non-state run media outlets? The people hate him. It seems to me like people portray him as the good guy because he is standing up to Bush. I don't like Bush very much at all and I'm not a blind patriot but Hugo Chavez is a dirtbag.

Yeah, thanks for the inspiring words. How is this blind patriotism? He wants to cut off oil supplies to US. Like I said, if you are on the left right or middle side of the political divide, that would really make a negative impact on our already shaky economy and influence the way we all live.

Dude, i've known about citgo for years (the funny thing is that my brother in law, the ultraconservative communist-hater, pumps his gas at citgo, heh, but i digress). I never get my gas at citgo for that very reason. I also never get my gas at exxon-mobil for related reasons.

What you should really list here, are gas stations that DON'T buy their oil from middle eastern sheiks, whose profits are funneled at least in part to fund terrorist activities and wahhabist militants. I think that the only gas company that fits this bill is sunoco (according to my brother) but i haven't fact checked this.

Well, if you believe he did it because he is a nice generous guy who loves helping impoverished Americans, then you are free to your opinion. But I don't see how threatening to cut off oil supplies to the US at the start of winter will help anyone, especially the poor.

Boycotting Citgo wont do anything. It's a shame that a moron like Chavez can be such a pain in our ass, but I blame our president for that.

If you arent buying his oil, then you are buying Saudi oil and they were in on 911. American propaganda would rather have you buy gas from a country with ties to Al Qaeda, then buy gas from a guy who opens his mouth to much.

Figure out better ways to protest Chavez.

Well, this is the only way that we're going to stop funding our enemies. I just love how certain interest groups in our country refuse to take us down this path and instead funnel us into this vicious cycle of consuming middle eastern oil. Traitors all of them, traitors.

Yeah I know. Oil has a lot of evils, but we are tied to it. Our energy, food, plastics...etc. We have a lot of choices, but all I'm saying is don't give your money to chavez.

I completely agree. If we really want to win "The War on Terrorism" we need to find an alternative energy source that will bring us as close as possible to being self-sufficient. We also just engaged in a multi-billion dollar arms agreement with Saudi Arabia. Sweet.

I wish state governments were more pro-active about being self-sufficient on energy. Since the Federal government doesn't seem to mind following the status quo. Sadly my state is really hurting economically, so we can only rely on industry at this point. It seems pretty pointless since most of the companies that give a damn are too small to make any significant changes in the near term. I totally agree, we need to get away from energy that hurts us in more ways than one. Sure middle east oil has its dark roots, but Chavez is actively trying to ruin our economy. Think about what would happen is the 5th largest oil exporter to the US suddenly stopped. It would be a train wreck and Chavez knows its. It will affect all Americans, even the ones who would call this "blind patriotism".

I dont like Chavez either. HE opens his mouth to much. In the global scheme of things, he is trying to help his people. They love him. He just has no tact with the rest of the world. He's a loud mouthed, harmless fool that his people love. I wish we had a president that was respected enough and not a bigger buffoon, who could tell Chavez to "shut up" like the King of Spain.

lol, that was epic. Yeah, I know he isn't that big on the world scale, but he has an ace up his sleeve that makes him dangerous. The 5th largest oil exporter to the US. Cut that off and it would send us into shock. The only real saftynet we have is Chavez would lose a lot of money that he needs to keep his socialist programs funded. But hey its not like he would have trouble finding other customers, China always needs more oil too.

We weren't all educated in some back woods, bible beating log cabin. I know what socialism is, and I could care less if he has his little socialist paradise in Venezuala. I don't agree with his style of leadership, but thats his country and the people are responsible for giving him so much power. My problem with Chavez is he actively wants to damage our economy by cutting off oil supplies. Do you have any idea how bad that would hurt the world economy if the US went into a deep recession because energy prices spike to record levels over night?

What we need is a president who can pet this guy on his head while he's crying. "Now, now Chavez it'll be ok". When he falls asleep with his bottle, we take his oil at a discount and run. Instead we have: "He's an evildoer and he's trying to put food on the Venezuelan families."

I cant blaim countries mouthing off to us at the moment, because our public image team (current administration) is worse that Larsen at CNET. They make horrible economic decisions and our stock is sinking faster than CNET since 2005.

Our dollar is in shambles. The rest of the world wants it, they are going gangbusters over it. Check out Russia, check out Brazil. People are currently profiting off of our losses. Trust me, the world welcomes this. We need a better PR department.

I dont welcome it. living is expensive enough as it is, and my state is in a bad recession. The shock this would cause would be a disaster. I hope his talk is nothing but posturing, and to Chavez's credit he has been all talk so far. But, once he has the power to act we should all hope he never calls his bluff.

OK, first off, you call Chavez both a fascist AND a socialist. That's just stupid.

Also, what's wrong with Chavez? He's done more for his country than Bush could ever hope to do for the USA.

Just because Chavez doesn't bow down to the might of the US and give into what they want (oil), doesn't make Chavez a bad man. Being Anti-American comes with the right to free speech sometimes, does it not? Or down the line have you lost the core values of what your country is meant to be about?

Your sources are also a joke. Any use of the American media as a source loses all credibility instantly, liberal or conservative.

How about you do some real research first like watching "The War On Democracy".

Well, maybe CNN made up that Chavez quote. I wasnt there. But like I've said my beef with him is the economic impact his actions would have if he cut off oil supplies to the US. Its a real problem that goes beyond which side of the political divide you sit on.

Well OPEC are much the same but I see you're not complaining about them.

[QUOTE="DisturbedChild7"]He recently gave extremely cheap oil to poor people, ultimately helping out hundreds. He's terrible, just terrible.Darthmatt
If you consider it was all for propaganda then yes, he is terrible.

Marketing, Public Relations, Advertising .... all different words that are really just propaganda. =)

[QUOTE="Darthmatt"][QUOTE="mini-mario"]Then you could as well boycot all gas from Saudi-Arabia, that country is much worse. Oh, but wait, the Saudi's are America's big buddies while Venezuela is a socialist counrty and you Americans are socialistfobic while you don't even know what socialisme is.THETRUEDOZAH

Our dollar is in shambles. The rest of the world wants it, they are going gangbusters over it. Check out Russia, check out Brazil. People are currently profiting off of our losses. Trust me, the world welcomes this. We need a better PR department.

I dont welcome it. living is expensive enough as it is, and my state is in a bad recession. The shock this would cause would be a disaster. I hope his talk is nothing but posturing, and to Chavez's credit he has been all talk so far. But, once he has the power to act we should all hope he never calls his bluff.

i wonder if you even listen to yourself.

Chavez has people in such brutal repression in Venezuala, although he can afford to make a stand against the most powerful presence on the globe. meanwhile, you're concerned that this countries lack of support for your interests as an American will bankrupt your state, and basically make living untenable due to financial weight. wake up, dude.

You really don't know the situation in Venezuela at all. Chavez has improved conditions in Venezuela. Just look at the HDI.

Umkay. But remeber what ever happens here effects every where else as well (Thanks to globalization). And despite what happens in his country or in mine, I still have to make ends meet and live day to day, so yeah I care about my own interests. Its expensive as hell to live as it is, and our current government hasn't made things better.

iraq had the highest quality of life in the middle east before the gulf wars. you're warranting action taken against an entity due to their actions to repress people, when in reality you're just acting as a mouthpiece for those repressing you.THETRUEDOZAH
Hey, I never supported the Iraq war, or President Bush. I haven't voted Republican in the 10 years I've been voting. My only concern is the economic impact such a move as Chavez proposes could have on the US economy. He can do what he wants to in his own country but I'm not going to knowingly suport a person who wants to do harm to mine. Hence why I never suported Bush either because I knew he was the type of man that would F things up, and he has.

I admire that Chavez wants to stand up to being pressured into doing things that are not necessarily in the best interests of his country.
