I had my braces for a while now, and In a month or two I will be getting them off, but a problem I have is that my gums are starting to overgrow onto the teeth. My gums aren't that inflamed and they don't bleed when I brush them but the gum between my two front teeth comes down quite a bit and isnt a good look. I have asked my orthadontist and he claimed it is common for the gum to swell when you have braces, but the gum has literally grown half a centimeter over between my front teeth, and It's hard to beleive it will just go back once I get them off.

Iv'e heard there is surgery to cut away gum called gingivectomy, maybe i will have to get this?

Wouldn't be surprised if it was Gingivitis.

Gotta floss more, son.

Possibly, I brush three times a day thoroughly and use mouth rinse, I gave up flossing because it took 10 minutes just to floss every tooth, I don't have that kinda time when I'm trying to get ready for school.

Go talk to your ortho, and insist that he look at it because it's really bothering you.

DO NOT get a Gingivectomy, From personal experience my sister had one when her braces were taken off, and she said it was a worse experience then anything, Her gums bled for almost a week straight, and also hurt like a b***h for about 2 weeks. On top of all that, what was left of the gums were swollen for almost a month. After thinking that the dentist screwed up she went to get a second opinion and apparently this is not that unusual for gingivectomy.

EDIT: Damn i can't spell today... Edited for spelling.
