Breathing underwater by a mile. Because if the world knew there was one guy who could fly naturally, they'd shoot his arse for showing off :P
BUT THE SKY IS FULL OF NOTHING BUT AIR. IT IS SO BORING. :|Cloud_765You could swim down far enough to see cool stuff because of the water pressure :P
I can already fly (can't take off from the ground though) so I would go for underwater breathing and hang out with dolphins.

I wouldn't call diving in the air from a few thousand feet boring :P
And just think.....getting anywhere would be so much easier.
Anyway, I guess I'd choose flying.
Wouldn't want to fly too high because the of the high radiation in the Earth's upper stratosphere. I'd just use it my flying powers to travel places I haven't been, maybe the top of Mount Everest. Flying too slow would be bad... In today's terrorist-filled world you'd probably be classified as a UFO and the government would be on your tail. Then they'd capture you and lock you up in Area 51. In that case I would need to travel faster then speed of light so it would be travel would be instantaneous.Considering the ability to not drown, I might say the former is more useful in prolonging one's life. Flying is fun and all, but you're still squishy. I wouldn't even go exploring or anything... I was thinking on the off-chance that someone ever tried to kill me by holding my head underwater, I'll have the upper hand.
Plus I have a fear of heights. I love airplanes (I even like the feeling of turbulence), but I have never wished I could fly on my own.
Who would answer underwater breathing? You can buy stuff to allow that. Can you buy anything to let you (and by you i mean not in a plane) fly? Didn't think so.
does breathing underwater include ability to dive really deep without being crushed? does flying include ability to fly really high without suffocating?comp_atkinsWell either way you will have a buffer to limit you from being crushed or sufficating. So i think they both come with common sense. Well maybe.

Jet packs are far, far away from being useful. Your point still stands.Well, that is kind of a hard decision for me. I can't swim and I don't like heights. That being said I'd go with flying. Can you imagine the money I'd make just by being somebodies personal taxi? I'll carry around for five minutes for 1,000 bucks a pop. Hell, I'd even take them to their destination, if I could get there in five minutes.
Flying would be a lot more fun, but breathing underwater would be more interesting to me. I love ocean creatures, so I think being able to experience them for an infinite amount of time would be awesome. I obviously couldn't go very deep because of the pressure, but there's some damn cool stuff even a couple hundred feet down.

I'd die happily knowing I'd be consumed by the colossal squid.
I will go with flying because I could go anywhere I want and I might get over the fear of heights once I get used to it. Having the ability to breath underwater seems useless to me since I have a fear of the unknown in the sea and also it doesn't exactly make me a strong swimmer, which makes me prey for a lot of predators.
As having the ability to breathe underwater would affect my life rather undramatically, I'll go with flying. I'd just want a portable GPS device so I do not get lost and a very good raincoat.mindstormOne step closer to God, you'd be. >.>
