[QUOTE="ironcreed"]What a steal! Man thats a nice deal for one draft pick.Well it's not like Green Bay had a lot of bargaining power -- everyone and their dog knew Farve wanted out, and there are only a handful of teams Green Bay were willing to trade him to.The end of the carnival is finally here....at least one aspect of it, lol.

I hope he goes to New York and fails miserably. I have lost all respect for him and do not blame Green Bay one bit for not wanting that kind of distraction on their team. He has already ruined Aaron Rodgers' chances with Green Bay before he even got started. Favre is a selfish, "it's all about me" cry baby.
dang it!
I wanted him to be traded to my Tampa Bay Bucs
i'm soooo mad:evil:

You are probably better off with Jeff Garcia in my opinion. He is a hell of quarterback who cannot seem to find a team to give him more than a couple of seasons to really build something worthwhile. Besides, he got you guys to the playoffs last year and I would tend to think that your chances with him are pretty good in the NFC South.
[QUOTE="famicommander"]Lame. I was hoping the Broncos would pick him up. I'm sick of watching Jay Cutler.hockey73

yea but still. the addition of Favre would have attracted more media attention and/or increased Bucs fans. grrr

It is off-topic, so why not? I see other sports threads in here all the time.
Yah i don't think mods really care, I see them here every now and then. Plus you'll get more responses in a faster amount of time then in sports dicussion.

Not at all. I'm not as taken up with Cutler as everyone else seems to be. He hasn't won consistently, and it's not going to get any better for the Broncos this year. We have no guaranteed number one running back, Rod Smith and Javon Walker are gone, Brandon Marshall is suspended for the first three games, Matt Lepsis is gone, and Tom Nalen has missed seven consecutive practices. Our offense is likely going to be pathetic this year. I'd rather watch a great quarterback go down swining than a QB with "potential" take us nowhere.[QUOTE="ironcreed"][QUOTE="Thiago26792"]Is this the right board for this?hockey73

Well, it does say Sports Game discussion, so I figured that since it was relating to news, rather than a sports game, off topic would be the place to post it.

I don't think so; watch out for the Panthers and Saints this year.
The NFC South is going to be very close.
Great, I guess Favre curse against the niners will be in full effect for another year. Hopefully, he at least puts a dent on the Patriots' record. Renegade_Fury
You just reminded me of that massive upset the Jets had over the Patriots 2 season ago.
So epic.

oh. Theyre just one of those franchises that I always see losing over the years that I ignore.

It's not he was going to become an all-star QB right away. Plus he discovered he has diabetes, which made him tired last year at a faster rate; so he should only get better. Idk, tbh, your last statement doesn't make much sense to me, but we all have our opinions.
Yes, finally SportsCenter can focus on more important things, like filling us in on what's happening with the Yankees and Red Sox. :roll:UssjTrunks
What are you complaining about? Yankees and Red Sox are the biggest teams in baseball with the most fans. Obviously Red Sox and Yankees are going to be favored by the media since they will mean more money. Seriously, all the small market teams always have low attendance. If you don't like it why don't some of you small market guys support your teams.

We were poised to make the playoffs his first season until he took over and drove us straight into the ground. Plummer may have sucked, but he at least got us to the playoffs three years in a row.[QUOTE="limpbizkit818"][QUOTE="H8sMikeMoore"]wow, the jets might have some wins.

Yea, the Jets do this all the time. They win, then lose. They were going to have a winning season this year without Favre anyway:
2004: 10 - 6
2005: 4 -12
2006: 10 - 6
2007: 4 - 12

How did Favre ruin Rodger's chances with GB?
How? Gee, let's see. The Packer's drafted the guy 3 years ago with the sole intent on having a QB for the day that Favre was no longer around....which was obviously going to be soon. The guy has waited patiently, studying under Favre for 3 years and now after going through season after season of Farve holding the team hostage with his inability to decide whether he wants to retire or not, he finally officially retires and Green Bay has no choice but to move on and name Rodgers their guy. But, all of the sudden, right before camp starts, here comes Brett back, wanting his job, despite the fact the team moved forward, and started building the team around Rodgers...not to mention drafting Brian Brohm from Louisville as well. What are they supposed to do, place everything regarding their future on hold yet again and undo everything that they have done because Brett cannot make up his mind?
In regards to his hurting Rodgers, the very fact that he came back, but is not going to be a Packer made a large portion of the Green Bay base automatically hate Rodgers before even giving him the time of the day. And anything short of getting to an NFC championship game just will not do for the folks that cannot see the selfishness of Mr. Favre's actions, that not only put extra undue pressure on Rodgers, but provided a massive distraction for the entire team. Last time I checked, football was a team sport, not a one man show. Do you honestly think that the Packers would have went 13-3 last year if they did not have the recievers to catch the passes that Favre threw? Or an offensive line to protect him from getting dropped? Ryan Grant and the running game? A defense to prevent the other team from scoring?
Favre has no one to blame but himself for this whole fiasco, and his reputation desreves to be tarnished because of his selfishness and inability to pass the torch out of his own refusal to get out of the spotlight. The Packers could not just sit idly by in the off-season after Brett announced his official retirement, and they cannot be expected to undo all of the moves and decisions that they made just because he decided to come back at the last minute. It is not fair to the team. As football is team sport.

He was in a situation where alot of pressure was put on him to perform or Cutler would replace him. Cutler will be a heck of a lot better in the future. I think fans or most fans recognized we would be re-building from that point on. Idk like I said, we have a difference in opinions.

If there was a non east coast biased station, I can assure you we'd watch that instead.

First off, this all went down during the pre-seaon. Wait, the pre-season didn't even start yet! So don't give me this crap, o Favre distracted the team. If the Packers do bad this year it will not be because of Favre.
It's going to be this simple: If Rodgers wins, the fans will like him. Lose/get hurt, and they will have his head. People keep acting like Rodgers is this little baby that needs to be put in a bubble or his feelings might get hurt. Give me a break! If he can't take some pressure during the camps what is he going to do in the metrodome?
Fact is the Packers just traded Favre away, so how him coming back has "runined Rodger's chances with the Packers" makes no sense. The team stood behind him, not Favre.
Yes, Favre is to blame for coming back but don't act like the Packers are little angels. Thomson blundered this thing. He should have gotten rid of Favre right away if that's what he wanted instead he lets Favre fly up to GB and attened the teams scrimmage!
Nothing that you listed is a vaild reason for why his chances with GB are ruined.
He should have stayed retired...Cube_of_MooN
Agreed. 16 seasons, millions of dollars, a super bowl victory, records set, coming off a successful season, Hall of Fame secured, a great family who would love to spend more time with him and enjoy living the good life....what more is there to prove?
