[QUOTE="Junkie_man"] [QUOTE="Dracargen"]That. . . .is disgusting.:?Dracargen
Are you going to pretend that there is a rational reason for this, or just accept it is an illogical feeling? (fine if it's the latter, everyone has them.)
Forgive me if I'm a little put off by crossing human and animal DNA into an embryo that will be used as a mere test and killed after 14 days.
The miracle cures being put out for this sound remarkably like the ones put out for embryonic stem cell research. . . .and we all know how that one turned out.:roll:
First, we are not crossing animal and human DNA. All the DNA in the cells is human, but the cytoplasm (and specifically the ribosomes that assemble the proteins encoded by the DNA) are animal. The ball of cells isn't even considered an embryo and is not viable, so isn't alive even by your definition ( presumably that it has potential life) and so cannot be killed. And secondly it is still early days for stem cell research, I rather think you are jumping the gun in claiming that it will not produce a useful advancement. They said the same about Faraday's experiments, and just look at what they lead to.
