Ok so I was at Books a million and I bought a photography magazine not realizing that it was British with British prices and such. I read some articles and they seem a lot simpler and more easy to understand than most American articles. It seems like American magazines dash around a subject with more complicated vocabulary and then eventually getting to the point. Does anyone agree with me? I am not bashing the British i just like the way they write and get to point in a simple way.

That sounds like a bit of a broad generalization, but I can't say I've ever tried to compare them, myself.

American articles are for the most part written at a 5th grade reading level. The rest of the world's articles are more straightforward since American media outlets suck and are censored most of the time.

I've only ever read game magazines from the UK....seemed about the same level or at least I didn't notice a big change. As for photography magazines...they would be using photography terms. Perhaps you've become more accustomed to them.

I wasn't accusing you of anything. I'm just saying that it seems unlikely that all magazines would be like that. I guess I could've said it better though. >_>

Britain is Scotland, England, Northern Ireland, Republic of Ireland and Wales.

Scotland and England use the pound, Ireland use Euro and I am not entirely sure about Wales but I think it is the pound.

He was making reference to another thread......Britian does not contain Ireland. The UK and Northern Ireland would include Northern Ireland.;)

I like to get my news from the BBC website and I can't tell the difference between that and, say, the NYT. Of course that's only one source so what do I know.

Possibly,,, although only using one source for your argument against a wider varioty of sources its not the best way to argue a point. Secondly I agree with some of the our stuff being rather simple for example "the Sun" which is a taboil newspaper which is read by the thick people of the UK is the HIGHEST selling newspaper..... i think (dont quote me on it lol) and that has the readers age of like a 5 year old.

With the point of americans dodging the subject and using more "complicated vocabulary", that isnt a good thing at all really. If you wanted instructions on how to make scrammbled eggs you dont want to read something that wonders off into how KFC is cruel to chickens. Straight to the point is better imo so i agree with you.

Not trying to be a smartarse now but you topic (if you were bashing) the british your kicking yourself in the nuts cuts its poor grammar lol.

after that load of **** im gonna go to bed =].
