So, i was looking through my itunes, and couldnt really find any new things, and so i went on itunes and checked out genius... i found out a pretty good band called breaking benjamin... anyways i thought i would ask OT for some bands that are good introductions to different genres, and also branches of rock, and bands i might not have heard of... i like system of a down, nine inch nails, radiohead, tool, rage against the machine, audioslave, and 3 days grace, so any suggestions?

Try out Neurosis, Isis, or Pelican.

Listening to Breaking Benjamin isn't exactly "expanding" your musical spectrum. They're about as generic and mainstreem as rock bands get these days.

Puscifer is pretty meh IMO. Check out Maynard's better "other" band, A Perfect Circle.

Maynard's other band is A Perfect Circle. They're pretty decent, Interestingly enough, I got into A Perfect Circle before I got into Tool.

Oh I've been listening to APC since they formed. Well, I've been a Tool fan since Aenima, but APC isn't quite as good as TOOL imo. I just figured the OP already knew about APC, so I recommended Puscifer.

Since everyone seems to be suggesting rock, I'll start with different genres.

Let's try psychadelic trance. Wouldn't say this is the easiest listening material, but I think it's pretty awesome once you get used to it. It's probably better with some LSD/shroom though.

Deeply Disturbed - Infected Mushroom

Converting Vegetarians - Infected Mushroom

Mush Mushi - Infected Mushroom

This stuff is trippy beyond belief.

It's Trance, some of the songs have lyrics, others don't. You mostly listen for the beats. It's pretty hard to get used to.

Heh, funnily enough a local metal band named Hellmouth suppossedly has a member who is currently a teacher in a district by me.

Anyways, for recommendations:

Maximum the Hormone (that song makes them sound somewhat like a Japanese version of early SOAD. Theygotvarietythough)

Drowning Pool (Only get the Sinner album. Their amazing singer died right after that album came out and they haven't been the same since)

Muse (Lighter than most stuff you mentioned but a mind-blowingly good band)

MuteMath (Once again lighter but amazingly good rock. That particular song is liable to get stuck in your head it is soooo catchy)

Earshot (I have heard them be compared to Tool and A Perfect Circle)

Crossfade (Just get their first album. Their follow up blew unfortunately)

Chevelle (Great band that has had all great albums except for their most recent one "Sci-Fi Crimes")

Lostprophets (Last album "Liberation Transmission" got a bit poppy, but at the very least their first two albums were great rock albums)

Mudvayne (I have picked and chosen a good amount of songs that I enjoy throughout their career. Dig is by far my fav though still)

Red Hot Chilli Peppers (Something a bit different to mix it up. Great, great band)

Edit: Added in link for Hellmouth.
