I know most of you hate Bush and the war, but this deserves respect. The man was a hero.

It's amazing what some people can do and the sacrifices they can make, unfortunately stuff like this will never get into the media. Also unfortunately, people are unable to avoid making this a political thread.

No, that would be an opinion.

Take Obama out of the equation, and alot of people can surmise that Bush is a pretty poor president.. He has done nothing extrondinary or above and beyond.. Nor has he really shown to even do an acceptable job in alot of areas..

That being said what was the point to posting this article? I am quite sure most people show respect to people who serve their country amiably specially to save their comrades.

Why is this a thread about Bush and not the soldier that gave his life? What does this have to do with Bush other than the fact that he gave a medal that any one in their right mind would give? The soldier deserves the utmost respect and admiration for such a selfless and heroic deed, but Bush doesn't deserve any for such an arbitrary action. I find it funny that you're trying to spin this into a positive in favor of him.

Because Jackson is notrious for posting really anything with a conseravtive slant, or Bashing the democratic side.. I don't think I have seen him yet say anything postive for the opposite party, or negative towards his party.

The topic creator wasn't trying to call attention to Bush, he was trying to say something that would keep people from making anti-Bush comments about something where the focus SHOULD be on the man who died. Unfortunately, some people have done that anyway, and you're making the wrong assumptions here.

Then why is the name of the topic "Bush awards Medal of Honor to navy SEAL" as opposed to just saying something central on the actual soldier, instead of making the subject Bush. Knowing his posting history, I think it's a perfectly reasonable assumption to say that this has a slant. This has nothing to do with Bush. It has to do with the soldier. If his thread was intended to be that way it should be reflected in the title.

It is in the media, the link is on CNN....And I've never understood why they award the parents. Sure they played a huge role in character and quite probably influenced the decision he made, but why not present it at his funeral and do something like lay it on his gravestone? His parents themselves did not sacrifice their lives.

The fact that you're making this a political issue is disgusting man. I copied and pasted the story directly from CNN, title and all. This wasn't meant to insight any kind of "My political party hasa bigger **** then your party" contest, it's meant to celebrate the life of this man who died for his fellow SEALS. Thats what guys are dying over there for, the friends to their left and their right. Not all of us agree with this war or Bush or anything like that, but its our duty to do the job. I'm going back to Iraq in 2 months, and I can't wait. It's what I signed up to do. Just honor the man for showing us all that heroism still exists, no matter who's in political power or anything. By the way, I've repeatedly said I'm not a republican, nor am I a democrat. And I don't hate democrats, no matter what kind of words you try putting in my mouth. Zell Miller is awesome, IMO. But I digress, lets bury this issue here.

Also, Sgt Rafael Peralta is very close to being awarded the Medal of Honor too. He was stationed out here in Hawaii where I'm stationed. Barely knew the guy other then seeing him around on base, but he was a great man from what I've heard. RIP Raf

Because it is the President of the United States that awards the medal, it is there to give a matter of importance to the subject, many people don't know what earning the Medal of Honor entails.

And Michael Monsoor was not a soldier, he was a Navy SEAL. Soldier = US Army.

Sorry about my misunderstanding of the designations. Jackson has stated that this thread is meant to be solely about the soldier, so I'll end my argument here.

This thread should just get locked and leave it for people to see the article. Everyone is going to fast on the hate-bush bandwagon to stop for a moment and think about the soldierDivergeUnify

Oh right, the guy who signed up knowing he'd be going to Iraq, it's much sadder when he dies then when say an innocent Iraqi, or a child or someone dies. I forgot, lets devote all our energy to him.

[QUOTE="bman784"]Why is this a thread about Bush and not the soldier that gave his life? What does this have to do with Bush other than the fact that he gave a medal that any one in their right mind would give? The soldier deserves the utmost respect and admiration for such a selfless and heroic deed, but Bush doesn't deserve any for such an arbitrary action. I find it funny that you're trying to spin this into a positive in favor of him.DivergeUnify

Because Jackson is notrious for posting really anything with a conseravtive slant, or Bashing the democratic side.. I don't think I have seen him yet say anything postive for the opposite party, or negative towards his party.

Also, is very close to being awarded the Medal of Honor too. He was stationed out here in Hawaii where I'm stationed. Barely knew the guy other then seeing him around on base, but he was a great man from what I've heard. RIP Raf

wow thats pretty couragous too. Damn, wounded and still took the grenade.

Yeah, Raf is a hero all over base. They named a dining hall after him in Okinawa, and they got a memorial out here. I'm not sure if it's 100% acurate, but I've heard that the Marine Corps base out here in Hawaii where I'm stationed has the most deaths of any base in the Marines, we lost a lot of good guys that deserve recognition.

Read up on SgtMaj Brad Kasal too, if you wanna see a real hardcore individual. The man took 7 rifle shots, over 40 pieces of shrapnel, and WALKED OUT OF THE HOUSE IN FALLUJAH.He was awarded the Navy Cross for his actions.

With all due respect, with a sig like the one you have, it should be expected.

Jesus Christ dude, drop it :|

Drop it? That was my second post in this thread, and it was made respectfully, so get the hell off my back.

I love when people read the first two posts, and then quote, making themselves look dense.

It's amazing what some people can do and the sacrifices they can make, unfortunately stuff like this will never get into the media. Also unfortunately, people are unable to avoid making this a political thread.drowningfish999
It's a story on CNN and I just saw this exact same thing on my local news. :|

Then go delete your post. You know very well people are going to stop and quote it.

Anyways, it was covered live on Fox News. The speech and the president awarding the medal to the family. He deserved the medal, taking a grenade to save his fellow SEALS.
