Hidden in a bill that expands federal surveillance that passed the House yesterday is a clause that pardons Bush and his administration from any "possible" war crimes dating back to 9/11/01.

This literally makes me sick to my stomach. Violations of the Geneva convention can be punishable by death, and Bush gets to pardon himself. Disgusting.

Clinton was a great president. So what if he cheated on his wife. He did his job as president and his outside life should have nothing to do with that.

Clinton was a great president. We had a huge surplus. All he did was cheat on his wife.

Bush on the other hand has basically pissed on the Constituiton. And no one seems to care.

Cheating on someone implies that you're lying to them at some point. After all, not many people tell their wives "Hey, I'm with other women." casually.

Clinton may have had some issues but he was a good prez.

But the question is why was he put under oath in the first place? Yes he lied, but why should a president have to go under oath when disscusing whether he cheated on his wife or not (something that isn't illegal)

And please just stop. You can't even compare Clinton lies to Bushes.

Lying about WMD's >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Lying about a blowjob.

Clinton wasn't a bad president or a good one. All he had to do was bask in the great economy & gov't surplus provided by an overly inflated stock market, he was just lucky to be leaving before it popped. Actually, seeing as I prefer laissez-faire gov't (Libertarian, FTW!), he did exactly what I'd want as a president.

And that bill is kind of shocking, cuz it makes you wonder just what we DON'T already know about Bush doing so far and what he plans to do if it rides through o_0

voting for a war is not a war crime. read the geneva convention or at least part of it. and see how bush disobeyed most of it. nothing in there states that it is a war crime to vote for war. besides the democrats did not vote to torture and hold prisoners for years on end in gitmo with no trial. they had no say in it

http://www.unhchr.ch/html/menu3/b/91.htm

and even if they tried to say they weren't prisoners of war bush broke other international treaties by keeping the people in gitmo the way he did. but that no longer matters since the supreme court ruled this treaty applies to al queda and iraq.

he deserves to be tried for war crimes

I believe he was an above average president. He lowered taxes for the middle class, raised taxes for the rich, attempted to provide universal healthcare, promoted gay rights, and used American troops the stop the ethnic cleansing in Serbia. We also had a huge surplus under him, and kept it through his presidency. His presidency is just overshadowed by the Monica Lewinsky scandal.

Obviously you don't quite understand the amount of time, effort, and money it would take to just "bring them all home now". Not to mention the human cost of things if we left in a hurry.

Lol, that's where he loses for me in health care. Lack of universal health care isn't the issue in the USA, it's the drug companies being allowed to advertise (which creates huge expenses built into medicine cost) and the ability of any American to sure for uncapped punative damages against medical professionals & other related services. But that's a debate for a whole 'nother thread and I'm too tired to go further tonight :P

Could you explain this a little more? I have no idea what you are trying to say.

Basically if you are against the cause of the war, the Democrats said the exact same reasons (and there were reasonS, not just one) for it. And, now since their party has gone anti war, they have decided to turn coat and call the president a liar, when they would be liars as well!

The point of this post is not the justification of the war.. it's about what Bush and his administration has done SINCE the war began.. and now he's trying to cover himself by giving himself and his buddies a pardon..

Sorry. Since some anti war people call the whole war a war crime, I thought you might be talking about that.

the whole war is not a crime. it is the actions bush has sanctioned during the war which are war crimes. such as the treatment of prisoners and detention without trials. those are the actions that are war crimes as they are against the geneva convention. one could argue the war is against international law, but it would be a hard case. the war crimes that he is pardoning himself for are not at all hard to prove. he routinely mentioned that he wasn't going to follow the geneva conventions because he didn't have to because this was a new kind of war. unfortanetly for him he can't make deicisions as to what treaties are no longer necessary, hence why he needs to be tried as a war criminal

it is the nature of rulers to excuse themselves for their atrocities. bush is garbage like all rulers.

[QUOTE="rrric"]worst president ever...... worst than grantEboyLOL
Worse then Grant, but not Buchanan.

Don't forget about President Hoover. He did nothing to aid those suffering from the Great Depression.
