I recently got a job at my local Safeway.. so far I've worked on a Friday and Saturday. The ones who work there say the weekends are always the busiest of the week and so far Friday was pretty hectic. So I was wondering if any of you have worked at a grocery store and what were the busiest/worst days to work.

:| at a guess, M-W, but that's not the point. There are really busy days, slightly less busy days, and then the other days

I worked at a grocery store for 5 years, and I can say from personal experience that while during the day (7am-3pm), weekdays are much slower, but once people start getting out of school and work there isn't much difference. Be prepared for holidays, though. Thanksgiving and Christmas are obviously the worst, but any given day as early as a week before the actual holiday, has the potential of being THE busiest day of the year.

It's not about busy days, it's about busy hours.

I work as a bagger/cashier at my local grocery store, and from my experience the busiest days usually are Saturday and Sunday (especially Sunday morning once football season starts).

When it is the first or 15th of the month, I don't even bother going to the grocery store.

I worked at a grocery store for 7 years through high school and college. The busiest days week to week are always going to be Sat and Sun. The least busiest are usually Tues. and Wed. Now if you think a Friday in late July is 'hectic', you may as well just ask for the weeks before Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas off right now.

then she's probably using BS coupons for crap she didn't buy. but she gets away with it because the cashier doesn't care. i was one of those cashiers.

busiest day- Saturday

Slowest- tuesday or Wednesday

When it gets busiest- the day before a long weekend or holiday in which the store will not be open the next day. For some reason people seem to leave their shopping to that last day

Well usually Saturday and Sunday. It seems whenever you say, "Oh I work Wednesday it's going to be slow" But then it's really busy.

I'm a bagger/cashier too! I except I hate being in the register. So I try to avoid it.

no, she uses multiple cupons at once. manufacturer coupons, store coupons, some stores take expired ones. Theres a whole website for it and everything. Btw, did you know that "one per transaction" means one per item? genius.

Well Friday wasn't really too bad, It was just the busiest I've seen it in awhile. The thing is that we have a very popular Lake about 10 miles from town so there are a lot of people getting camping food/supplies for the weekend. I'm currently on lunch break right now and today hasn't been too bad at all.
