Holy crap... I think you just divided by zero?i think the real question here is... can a cop pull himself over?
Ze_ALEX
Yes, they can pull each other over, they're not exempt. Though, if they pull over someone of a much higher rank, like, say, a chief, then they'd better have a damn good reason.
First rule of being a cop, understand that to break the law you have to be the law. We've all seen cops doing the exact things they pull us all over for, but they don't get tickets that would be silly. And the final rule, cops protect there own even when it's against all they are supposed to stand for.
Yes i'm thankful for the dangerous things cops protect us from, but i'm just as disgusted that they think that because they do that part of there job they should exploit the self appointed perks they get. There's so many cliches that go along with being a police man like; ultimate power corrupts absolutely or as uncle been would say with great power comes .... errr well you know that one.
Final verdict, it would never happen so I don't think to much about it.
All jobs have benefits. Not getting pulled over is one of theirs. Also, cops get punished for the smallest things. They are on short leashes. Trust me, I have a family friend who just got suspended for doing NOTHING wrong.First rule of being a cop, understand that to break the law you have to be the law. Trust me, I have a family friend who just got suspended for doing NOTHING wrong. Nothing, huh? Why don't I believe that.... Alright then I will explain. Two guys got in a bar fight. One guy pulled off one of the fighters. My family friend stepped up and said "Guys stop fighting". That is all he did. The guy in the fight called the cops and wanted to press charges. Not looking at the names closely. He signed a paper pressing charges against the family friend and the guy he fought. He meant to press charges against the other guy who pulled him off of the fight. My family friend is now suspended as a cop for a few months until trial. Although it is all a misunderstanding, he is still on a short leash. So fine he did not do "nothing" but it was pretty much close to nothing.Personally in my immediate friends or family I have:
1 cousin who's a cop
1 good friend who's a cop
2 cops on sports leagues with me
Between those 4 people I've gotten quite a few admissions to the fact that they do what they want when they want because of who they are. To each of them I've called B.S. about doing illegal things because that's what they are supposed to stand against. By saying it's ok because it's a perk it's like saying it's ok for a banker to take money home because they deal with money all day long. It's ok for a doctor to take meds from his office because he works with them all day long, it's ok for judges to dismiss people from court cases because they know them.. None of these things would be acceptable so why is it ok for a police man to break the law? Last I checked part of there swearing in was "to uphold the law"....
Everyone makes mistakes. You act like they must watch their speedometer 24/7. If the cop does something majorly illegal, he will get in trouble. At least that is how it works around here. If the cop speeds a bit, he isn't going to lose his badge.Personally in my immediate friends or family I have:

Cops can get pulled over while off duty. Not sure otherwise.

When this happens they usually just show the other officer there badge and go on there way. I've been told this several times. The only people police are afraid of is feds if my cousin is to be believed. They hate seeing a federal badge come out.

I'm not reffering to simply going 5 miles over. I mean things like I've actually witnessed a police man turn the wrong way down a one way street just so he could pull into a party store and buy something. Sat about 30 feet away and watched him. I've also seen a police man pull someone over for doing the exact same thing in the exact same spot to go to the exact same store.... Or how about a police man who caused an accident by careless driving and then gave others a ticket for it... watched that happen downtown michigan state university.
Here's a good one, myfriend who I mentioned sold me his 3000gt, one of the things he bragged to me about when I bought it. He said it's ok to speed around town with this as all his friends (cops) know the car and with the windows tinted it was going to be cool. I said really, he said yeah I've been going about20over in a 25 and they just waive to me.

Well then, I will agree that those cops should be getting in trouble. If higher ranks got a hold of stuff like that, they would get in trouble. Maybe I am just bias because I plan to go into criminal justice and possibly the police force. Not saying you are doing this rgsniper, but I hate when people bash cops over ridiculous things but then cry for them to come save them in the time of need.(This is just something that happened to another family friend crop recently and felt like sharing :?)Also what you said is exactly why if I do join the force, I plan to work in area I do not live in or know as well so I can have no bias or friends to worry about.
No again I appreciate cops for all the wonderful things they do, but again I just can't stand how it corrupts so many of them. I'm not particularly biased because I've got a beef with them.. it's been a long long time since i've gotten a ticket or had any issue in my life. I'm just simply an observer who takes note of what I see, and what I see dissapoints me.
As for begging for help in my time of need, well yeah, i'd hope they would considering it's what they are paid to do. I've actually got a funny story about that as well but i'm so embarresed by it I don't think I'll share. Lets just say one time I was a complete tool and unknowingly did something that could be illegal. Well as soon as I found out I called the cops, the response I got... talk to a detective, detective says talk to a cop... cop says no this is for a detective.. called and spoke to the detective...
After being completely honest and getting grilled on it, I then said so what can we do about it.... he blew me off and pretty much said nothing... I said but I even have there licencse plate and drivers licencse numbers. Isn't that going to make it super easy to take care of this... He then went on to say something like well it's like this I've got something like 74 open cases so there's really nothing I can do... Ok.. uh... I'm pretty much giving you a case with all the info you need to make it an easy one but you're saying although it's illegal you don't care because you have a lot of work...
Well honestly to me... that's not my problem.. I'm reporting a crime here... like i'm supposed to and you're blowing me off.... So anyway, I said so let me get this straightyou're not going to do anything about it.. so what if I take care of it myself... he then said he'd probably have to arrest me. Just a funny story.
Well I am glad you appreciate cops and, I believe, courageous job they engage themselves in. I also agree that corruption needs to be cleaned out of the police force but sadly I do not see it happening. Corruption is everywhere these days.No again I appreciate cops for all the wonderful things they do, but again I just can't stand how it corrupts so many of them. [QUOTE="Ze_ALEX"]The REAL REAL question should be...can a mod mod a mod? Now that is a brain buster ;) Yes, a mod can mod a mod, but they rarely do. Usually its a higher-up that deals with it, or they just send a PM raising an inquiry to the mod in question who has sparked the controversy so they can reach consensus.i think the real question here is... can a cop pull himself over?
