Can anyone explain this weird problem?

I'm getting a new cellphone tomorrow so I don't care too much, but I'm wondering what actually causes this. My cellphone, when left within 3 feet of any speaker, will cause the speaker to make a loud "Budda Bump Budda Bump" every 30 minutes (or before I receive any text or call). At first, I didn't really care. But now it's starting to get annoying. I was listening to music on headphones at school when my friend sent me a text and it was loud enough to cause a sharp pain to my ears.

Why does it do this?

I think it has to do with magnetic waves. IT isn't unusual at all but I honestly don't know what it is that causes it.

Almost all phones do that so it depends on the type of speakers. At least that's what I've deduced from my experiences with it. It probably has something to do with the frequency of incoming transmissions and such. Umm, google/wikipedia it.

Wait? Almost all phones do this? If that's the case, I really do want to know the solution to stopping this.

I've had quite a few phones and ALL of them have done that. I'd be seriously surprised if you found one that didn't. It's how the speakers react to the frequencies and micro/magnetic waves of the cell phone signals.

Your brain will probably make the same sound when all the cell phone radiation melts it!

Hm, my headphones do that. I never thought my phone would be the cause but maybe it is.

I think all phones have that effect. As to what causes it, I have no idea.

This reminds me of how ever since I updated/reinstalled the sound drivers on my laptop, my wireless mouse interferes with the laptop speakers and sends static to them.

It depends on the phone and it depends on the speakers. I can leave my phone right next to my speakers and this will never happen. Other speakers are not very well protected against interference. You can try shielding the cables or you can try shielding the speakers. As for the headphones, maybe you should invest in some new ones.

I'm not sure what causes it either, but I know some speakers are more sensitive than others. I have an alarm clock that makes that sound several times, leading me to believe it's being triggered by my brother's cell phone in the next room. But my computer speakers only do it when i happen to have the cell phone very near to them.

Correct, its to do with your phones sending off little messages to its service provider to update your signal bar (i think) I always have my phone by my pc so it tends to give the 'budda bump budda bump' noise quite often. As for 'it was loud enough to cause a sharp pain to my ears' all i can say to that is unlucky and hope it doesnt happen again :)

It most likely means the speaker wire has received interference from the incoming message data.

(WTF is with these html errors? )Â
