im just wondering if the site was perhaps wrong or misdirected cuz i think i would have heard from something like that , but then again you never know

i checked a few sites and it didnt say anything about it, but i wasn't sure... still, why would someone write an article about it. or get the idea he died from?

Publicity. He faked it so this exact thing would happen. Fans would start freaking out and he'd get more attention.
