If you had a girl friend whose best friend is a guy and he lives way closer to her than you, and they used tolike each other or one of em did, would you break up with your girlfriend?

1. How long have you been going out with her.

2. He might live closer, but why is that a reason to give her up? How hard is it to see her?

It's just a hypothetical with striking similarities to your past threads? People of the opposite sex can coexist without it being sexual in nature...

In my experience, yes, but only for a short time. It will lead either to a) relationship or b) awkwardness and never seeing each other again.

Apparently there was a study done which proved that a guy and a girl can't be friends without the guy having an interest in her sexually, even if it is only a small interest (he may not even realise it).

But yeah I agree :P

Yes they can. Just make sure you listen to, and understand this song...

Pretty much saying if a girl isn't making a move to be more than just friends..they never want to be that.

This. I see no problem with opposite sexes having strictly platonic relationships. I have several. However, if your GF likes another guy THAT could be a cause for concern. Kids these days have to learn how to satisfy their women.

A girl having a male best friend is just an excuse for her to be dating more than one guy without using those exact words.

Due to my personal and highly-scientific studies (not really :P) this has also been my observation.

Yes they can. I would break up if the relationship wasn't working. Not because they were friends with someone.

Well one of my best friends is a girl, and I've known her literally as long as I can remember. I'm a human male and she's gorgeous so obviously I'm attracted to her, but whenever we talk it doesn't even cross my mind. A lot of my other friends always thought that we should get together, but honestly I wouldn't want to jeopardize what I have w/ her because I've seen friendships destroyed like that. We've both said numerous times that we love each other and she's called me her best friend for life.

Short answer is yes because sexual attraction doesn't even cross into my mind, but I know it's there because she's beautiful and I'm not gay.

he's probably neither insecure or jealous, just accurate. i've lived this enough to know that yes, indeed, its just her excuse to be "dating" more than one guy. i've seen chicks lead several guys on and on and on just for the monetary attention only to have no real interest in them.

it's one thing to have friends that are girls, no doubt. but if you're dating a chick and she tells you "this other guy is my best friend" then no, somethings wrong there. i always thought one of the basic foundations of a good relationship is that you're best friends with your spouse.

They don't have to be a guy to be fun around, but to hang out with girls is a different kind of fun. I would place a large wager all your "female friends" are attractive and if given the opportunity, you would do something intimate with them.

I am naive? To think that all their is to women is makeup, clothes, and relationships is naive and childish. One of my closest friends is a woman and her and I have known one another for years, and we hang out, and not once has their ever been anything even remotely sexual. Hell, we both like comic books and talking about business. My gf's best friend is a male and they enjoy talking sports and reality TV. This holds true for the myriad of other platonic relationships I have with women. Your view of women, and likely of the world, is so skewed and immature its laughable.

Never been in that situation. As long as she is loyal to me than we're good. Most times though if you are friends with girl, then she gets a boyfriend, you'll be nothing to her.( may be different for some people but that happens all the time for me )

Really? I hear it quite a bit. I always found it silly. However, I do agree with Omni_Slash that if there is a mutual attraction between the two it could lead to something, but it is not necessarily the case.

If there is mutual attraction then I don't think it's a friendship per se. There would be a reason they were interested in spending time together and not just to be friends. More like the start to a relationship......different scenario.

im not saying they can't be friends. i'm saying based on the TS situation, it sounds like an excuse for her to "date" other people. i have plenty of friends that are girls, but if i was dating a chick and she introduced a guy and said "this is my best friend bill" i'd have issues with that. couple it with a long distance relationship and not seeing her in person much, yeah i'd just let her go and move on

[QUOTE="flordeceres"]

[QUOTE="clayron"] I do not understand why people can not understand this. Men and women can co-exist without sexual attraction/intentions. z4twenny

This is actually the first time I've ever seen anyone say guys and girls can't be friends.

im not saying they can't be friends. i'm saying based on the TS situation, it sounds like an excuse for her to "date" other people. i have plenty of friends that are girls, but if i was dating a chick and she introduced a guy and said "this is my best friend bill" i'd have issues with that, couple it with a long distance relationship and not seeing her in person much, yeah i'djust let her go and move on

What situation? She stayed friends with an ex. Happens. Doesn't mean she is dating the ex or anyone else.

Yeah. I'm best friends with my ex and I encourage her other relationships and help her with them all the time. It's a non-issue really.

[QUOTE="clayron"] hahaha. Thats the silliest thing I have heard today. You must be insanely jealous and insecure?flordeceres

he's probably neither insecure or jealous, just accurate. i've lived this enough to know that yes, indeed, its just her excuse to be "dating" more than one guy. i've seen chicks lead several guys on and on and on just for the monetary attention only to have no real interest in them.

lol, generalisations.

One of my oldest and closest friends is a guy. And I never felt anything but platonic love for him.

I'm going to guess the guy is in love with you and wants more than just friends. He's just hanging around in the hopes of getting some.

This, my friend, is a sign of maturity. Even I would not be okay with doing that depending on how the relationship ended. I hope I can become this secure with myself.
