So I have to read "To Kill A Mockingbird" by Harper Lee for school. And I know I'm an idiot, but I forgot to read over the summer and I have to read it by tomorrow (when the school year starts for me). I've read like fifty something pages so far and there are 200 something pages in the book. Is it a bad idea to use sparknotes for the information? I have to write an essay about it once school starts. I'm in quite the pickle.

they are meant to be a study aid, not the sole thing you study from.

stop posting, and get to reading.

I think it would be ok to read sparknotes. But if you have to write an essay, make sure you read the stuff about themes and motifs and symbolism and all that stuff, because more than likely, the essay will be about symbolism and that crap.

Sparknotes will be your best friend for that book. Actually I got lucky. When I had to read it, my English teacher actually got the questions for quizzes and tests from the info on Sparknotes.

Yeah, you can rely on it to get by in class at least. If you have to do an essay though, you'll need to read the book for specifics.

I used it all through high school and got a's. I wouldnt think its too reliable for most college stuff I will have to do soon though.

I did quite a few sparknotes throughout my high school days, but To Kill A Mockingbird was not one of them. Great book, and a very good movie as well. Just read this one.

What exactly is your essay on? Oh, and it shouldn't be too hard to read it all... In grade 10 I read a 250 page book in 3-4 classes of history, I had to read it and then make a presentation on it. Needless to say, I still got a good mark.

I don't recommend making a habit of it, but if you aren't going to be able to finish the book in this case its probably your best option and you might get lucky and have an easy test

Teachers actually read the spark notes alot, then they ask you questions they are sure haven't been covered in the spark notes.
