This is a question i always been contemplating because enless it says that the beat is copyrighted then its just a free recourse up for grabs right? Where can i find out more about this? Also if they someone gets mad i used it and never said copyright it shouldn't matter right? Like if i get a song copyrighted also with my proudction and lyrics on it can i copyright the song?

Sorry for the questions, if anybody could help that would be great.

Are you asking if you can beat off to youtube? Because that would be weird

cooler890

You could, depending on what video you watch.

Well technically they didn't copyright depending on who it is. Have you tried asking the person for the instrumental? I mean i doubt they are gonna charge you if they dont copyright their own music.

No, you can't just take someones beat and make it like it's your own. I don't give a **** if it's not copyrighted. That's just not right. Buy the beats if you're too lazy to make your own music.. No wonder so many rappers are talentless.

You can however rap to a beat but make sure to give credit where credit is due and don't try making profit.

I'd say go for it if they havent copyrighted, maybe as long as you don't make profit out of it, and be sure to give credit ;)

It depends. When people upload videos to youtube I believe the user agreement states something like "You agree that all videos uploaded to youtube become free use for anyone on youtube by youtube" or somethign like that. However there are still a number of DMCAs that have been filed against unsolicited use of copyrighted material.

If it's copyrighted you need permission from whoever owns the copyright. If it doesn't seem to have any legal protection, then you need valid permission from the creator of the beat, maybe even a signed legal contract. Save the records of those people who allow you to use their material or they can decide to get a lawyer and screw you over.

You can't take their work as you're own. You're required to give them credit and cannot sell it unless you get permission.

I'm pretty sure it's illegal. Then again, mashup artists like Girl Talk are already pretty damn popular, and all their music is in essence illegal. If you're looking to use music that is copyrighted and produced by a label, asking the artist won't be enough because the label will own the copyright. For example, when someone made a remix of radiohead songs from the album "in rainbows", they were blocked by the label even though the album was free and radiohead was completely fine with it.

Basically, if you alter anything enough to the point where you cant identify the original then you dont even have to credit the person you stole it off.
