I will be going to Costa Rica soon and I know texting/calling from another country on my cell is exspensive and not worth it but could I use my facebook on my cell to talk to my girl or will I just have to use a computer?

Internet on your phone in another country is probably even more expensive.

Roaming fees per MB used is probably like 8 bucks per mb. Don't do it.

yup, works fine that way, unless FB is blocked in that country... Which I doubt it is.

Data roaming charges can be horrendous. I'd either find an internet cafe close to where you'll be staying or stick with text messages.

Yes you can just use the internet in that country, avoid using your phone. If your hotel has internet it might cost a bit to use it but certainly less than roaming fees, and if they have coffee shops or mcdonalds there like we have here with free wifi, you can also go there.

Unless you're in some totalitarianism government, the internet in America is the same everywhere else. They don't call it the world wide web for nothing.

I recommend skype(over the internet of course) for voice or video chat. It is better quality and completely free for personal skype to skype calls.

Of course if you don't have access to your own computer and thus can't install skype it is simpler to use facebook's built in video chat.

I've been to Costa Rica, well the border and no Facebook isn't blocked there. You can talk to your girl via facebook with no problems. If your cellphone supports wifi then you might be able to talk to her while you're out too.

Of course. The internet is the same in every country. It may ask you to verify your identify though with security questions because you are logging in from another country. But it's nothing major. It usually gives you a picture of a friend and you have to pick their name from a list of like 6 people.
