I was at school sitting in the library watching Channel 1 News when I noticed something. In my right eye I saw a strange pattern. It's hard to describe but I'll do my best. It was a little bit like when you see a little cell swimming on your eye, and then you go to look at it and it moves away, mixed with something like looking at a bright light source for too long and then the image is burned into your eye for a few seconds. It was a translucent rainbow pattern in a spiral like shape. It was flickering too. Kind of like a strobe light. It warped everything it covered. Like it was sucking in everything. Anyway this weird image grew and grew until it took over the entire vision of my right eye. Then it got so big it disappeared. After I couldn't see it anymore I had headache for about three hours... WTF HAPPENED TO ME?!?!

Dunno, maybe you looked at a light too long or something. I got hit in the head once and got really dizzy and saw all kinds of little dots around me in my vision kinda like in cartoons when someone gets hit and see's little chicks flying around their head. Dunno, bro but if it keeps happening go see a doc.

Thanks man. That page helped a lot. Appears I had an "ocular migraine", followed by a headache. Here are pictures provided on the site to help illustrate what happened to me. They are on the generic side though.. http://www.allaboutvision.com/conditions/ocular-migraine.htm

I'm a medical student so I feel that my opinion may mean more than some of the others in here. While I cannot be sure what it is from your description (and my limited knowledge), but I definitely wouldn't sit on it. Why take the risk? If something made you blind, even shortly, there's no way I wouldn't go get it checked.

It sounds very neurologic to me, particularly with it being one-sided and with the rainbow pattern. While not necessarily epileptic, it definitely sounds like a seizure to me (not all seizures are you shaking on the ground, etc that people typically think of). Did you smell anything funny at the time? Any oddities with speech (couldn't understand people or what you were saying didn't really make sense, etc)? You said you had a headache for a while.... where (all over, a certain part of your head) and what did it feel like?People have all sorts of weird things that go along with unilateral temporal lobe seizures; I'd go to a neurologist and see what he has to say.

I was told to look out for something like that from my optometrist. It's something about your cornea tearing. I'm not a doctor but that's what it sounds like it could be. My optometrist told me that if you see that happening, then get your eyes checked out immediately.

While I don't disagree with that idea, the fact that his vision is back to 100% now (at least, that's the impression I got) makes me question an actual physical defect being formed.

Wow, I've never heard anyone say anything about the little shape you see in your eye after looking at a bright light for too long, then when you look at it, it begins to move away. That happens to me a lot, I didn't know it happened to anyone else, I mean I knew I couldn't be the only one but I never heard it happen to anyone else.

I stopped reading at teh eye part. That's called a floater. It's caused by masturbation (hence you'll go blind...) and other things bad for your eyes.

I get those little floating things often, i find myself trying to look at them as they go past my eyes, sometimes you can follow them, most of the time you move about eyeball in the socket so ya loose them. I was at the opticians recently and my eyes are near perfect so dont worry about that.

Anyone know what causes them?

But the colours i dont know..
