Alright, here are some songs that I think you should check out....

Elliott Smith- Bled White

The Smiths- Headmaster Ritual

Jeff Buckley- Mojo Pin

Porcupine Tree- Trains

The Smashing Pumpkins- Soma

try some Velvet Revolver. Sucker Train Blues, illegal I song, Do It For the Kids, Slither. All great songs by them. or try some Chili Peppers. They have a lot of great songs like Scar Tissue, Suck my Kiss, By the Way, Otherside, Readymade, So Much I, but go for some of the more rare gems like Bunker Hill, Quixoticelixer, Body of Water etc.
